Hey Fellow members,

We made it finally. My husband and I have been here for a week now. I was wondering if you could tell me.

When we crossed the border we checked in to the officce for an officer to review his two brown envelopes.... The only thing we got back was my husband canadian passport which has his temp 6 months visa in it. Should we have gotten anything else back?

What about his SSN, how will he be able to get work if he has nothing but this?

He can go apply for an SS at any SS office. check the website and you can download the application. He can probably get his DL, unless he needs his SS first.

Some of your questions depend a bit on what visa type the non USC entered with.

He does not have to have the SS card if he has applied for it. My hubby started working without his card and once it arrived he took tha card to his employer.

He will get his IR-1 (greencard) card in about 4 weeks or so.
