Thanks Pink Pig and everyone else whom has responded. The people here seem pretty amazing I have to say compared to the cold, umemotional lawyers I've spoken with so far.

Ok Pink Pig....I will talk to Lauren...and is there any others to speak to you lawyer included. Looking at the list you posted of people submitting 601's in Bangkok...I am wondering how I find out who handled their case. I am refering to these people below ...
1.Americankiwi Bangkok Aukland, NZ Pending 14-Jun-07 Over S Law Laurel Scott
2.HwaRang Bangkok Australia Approved 1-Nov-04 2-Dec-04 Over S submitted new waiver after denial
3.lillyfire25 Bangkok Australia Approved 1-Feb-05 22-Feb-05 Over S Law
4.jandd Bangkok Australia Approved 1-Nov-05 29-Nov-05 Over S Law
5.bellabarb Bangkok Australia

I tried to find Lillyfires posts yesterday but there are none showing up unfortunetely to establish which lawyer she used....does ANYONE know the lawyers for the other 4 people I've listed ? Any help would be appreciated.

My husband is in the US now and I have emailed him all the info I've gotten from this site so far including Lauren's and a few other 601 specialists.......
I know has done 601's via Bangkoko but (sorry if I'm repeating myself ...I think I'm developing torrets from the stress)....IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANY LAWYER WHOM HAS DONE 601'S VIA BANGKOK.....well I can't tell you how eternally grateful I will be.....

I know this is a long a messy road ahead....but I can't tell you all how much the support shown here makes this journey a little less scary and uninformed....I am doing my homework the best I can right now....again thanks all and I look forward to your replies.

Well, unfortunately the site had a major breakdown and all the old posts were lost.

Although I will tell you that generally speaking folks do not share the names of or recommend their lawyers.

I do not know why... so other than Laurel and Heather Poole (who is our lawyer) I do not have any other names for you.

I highly recommend both. Laurel posts here on the site and has rave reviews from everyone who she works with. So If I were you I would start with a consult with her.

I see that you have filed your I-130 petition so you are on your way.

Good luck.

Thanks Pink Pig...good to know I'm not going md looking for details that are not avaialble any more....

Onto both these lawyers today...thanks for the insider tip about lawyer discussions on this site.....trying to find a recommended lawyer with these peitions is difficult as I've noticed people are not comfortable sharing their lawyers details ....I'm not sure why but respect the choice......

My immigation journey feels pretty bumpy so far as I've been sooo ripped with paid for misinformation from Imm. lawyers who did not understand this 601 stuff but didn't tell me that at the time and have pointed me in the wrong direction as a consequence - which is kinda why I'm here today....that's my anxiety issue very loud and large unfortunetley as a result of contact with lawyers regarding this.

Thanks Pig again....i am pretty moved by the support available on this site and if it take me 4 more years ......well thats how long I'll be around for....(shuddering)

Yes, many of us hired the world's best immigration lawyer to lose $5,000 and one entire year of processing the first go around. You will get passed it, and if need be you will hire the right lawyer the second time.

That is why I so emphatically state that you must become an immigration expert on your own as well as hire the right lawyer.

I like the attorney we are using, but she is human... and I have found things on this site that have helped me more far more in ways than she has.

Also, I would just die if somebody tried her and thought she sucked and felt like they flushed away $5k. I don't know about anybody else here.. but that is major money for me.

I also think that even though immigration is a federal thing, I don't think my attorney would want to work on cases far from her zip code.

So that's why I've never made a recommendation. However, if I get approved, then I'll post her name (& of course the hardship letter)

If I get denied... I'll post my failed letter & keep on plugging away.

Cindy101,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I so understand.

There are things that I learned from folks on the site as well that our lawyer did not tell us.

Then there are some things that I learned on the site that I know are not correct and our lawyer was correct.

I think we all have to just keep searching for any and all information and keep it all in balance. There is no way that any one can know all about immigration laws.

I think that is one of the things that makes it so difficult.

and then there are always updates and changes.

also immigration lawyers are not getting wealthy by doing waivers and such. there are so many over fields of law that are so much more profitable.

Our lawyer and Laurel are both wonderfully empathetic people and they care about others. I think that is what makes them such good immigration lawyers.

Thanks guys to both of you for your thoughts.
Yes it makes sense that people would be unsure whether to give out details of their lawyer for these reasons. Because I'm here in Australia and there is only 1 US attorney here...it makes recommendations difficult, so this is why I'm hoping I can track down someone in the US that would handle this while my USC husband and I live here....and I think I have recieved some invaluable info on this site.... in just the 24 hours since I begun this 601 search.
Pink Pig's point of educating myself is soo important considering what it has cost me relying on other professionals for this help...and there are those lawyers that do make a difference I completely agree.

I just remembered that I had seen this link on Heather's site. I don't know if it will help but you might want to follow up on this.

Thank Pink Pig...had a look at Australian company and they specialize in Australian Immigration...However as we will hopefully do an intial consult with Heather, she may provide other info regarding this Australian company in regards to US immigration. I still think I need someone whom is actually in the US as this kind of 601 process is more common. Here the quote given and knowledge offered (and the balance of these two aspects of the process), with the US Imm lawyer in Aust seemed just out of whack with what I've now come across online with US based lawyers who can do I601's.

This is all helping Pink Pig...forever in your service

cheers
pete

I see. Hopefully we will keep the information coming and you can sift through and use what you can.

I think many of us do not want to share our attorney info because our attornys were not recommendable.... Mine cost us a fortune and was worthless, maybe even damaging- if anyone is considering an atty in the 462XX area code, pm me so you can avoid mine.

Good luck, Auusie, you'll find what you need here.

I so understand that, Adriane.

I would like to print fliers, fly airplane banners, email the world and make TV and radio commercials to announce the name of our first lawyer so that he will not take anyone else for $5,000 and cost them over 1 full year of time because he did not know what he was doing, and did not tell us that he did not know what he is doing. He is on Wilshire Blvd in Beverly Hills. Anyone considering there please PM me and I will tell you who not to use!!!

I guess the other side of this is that we found a wonderful lawyer and she is the reason that our DIL is home today. I know that many of you feel the same way about Laurel and for good reason.

Wow, I did not know that I was going to rant this morning. I think I need to change my mood sticker, if I can remember how.

Hi guys...the ranting is the only safe way to let off the frustration I imagine. Again the ranting helps inform/underline/imprint/stress what I should be trying to avoid at this stage.
It is a mindfield out there in lawyer land and it is saying something about the industry I believe when it is this hard to get or give a recommendation. Like Pink Pig says though...even if I get a great lawyer...I will still continue doing my homework and reading everything available so I know I'm on the page I need to be....I am trying to do this asap as we will get a lawyer in the nxt 2 weeks....so much to understand and inernalize after 2 years of being so scared and living indenial about it...
Have a good one guys...hope the fires over there are not too close for comfort for anyone
