Hi there everyone. I just received the waiver done by my lawyer and I was surprised to see that it was like 4 inches thick. They didn't hole punch and put fastener on it. They just separated it in three parts and put a binder clip on each part. My question is, is there a certain or specific way on how to submit at waiver at a local consulate? Should I put it in a folder or an envelope? If I can only have it book bind because I don't want the embassy to misplace the other parts. It's so thick, you can't bind them all together. Please advice me on what to do and please pray for the approval of my waiver too. My husband and I are so stressed, we almost broke up but we realized we should let this situation affect our marriage.

Thanks for all the help.

I don't know what to tell you about the paperclips, mine was fastened when I got it and it was real thick about the same as yours. But don't let this effect your relationship! I mean I know that there is going to be some arguments but it will all work out in the long run! In the beginning my husband and I had arguments and sometimes they got nasty but it is only because we were frustrated (and still are) with the situation! And believe it or not, now we are closer than ever! So hang in there! Don't let them (INS) win!!

You are right. I won't let the INS win and dictate the future for us. We are still hopeful.

About the fasteners, I got a letter from my lawyer's office and they didn't hole punch it because they didn't know if the embassy will allow it. I'm going through Manila consulate and I guess they're (lawyer) being extra cautious because it's one of the toughest.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Hmm, not sure about Manila, I am going through Honduras and mine was punched with the 2 holes up top (like your medical chart at the doctors office) and they accepted it. I would say call and ask before you go to see what their guidelines are! And GOOD LUCK :) :) !!!

It's so hard to contact the embassy here and all my efforts were futile. Is it ok if I hole punch the Form I-601 too and the G-28 or just the waiver per se? Thanks again.

Hmmm, To be honest I can not remember if the waivers were hole punched. I want to say no. Sorry I can't be of any help with that. :(

Why don't you just trust what your lawyer has told you about the clips and present it that way. We have not have many filed thru Manila and I understand it is a harder place to get an approval...but they cannot deny your waiver based upon the way it has been presented with clips or holes or whatever. They will have to adjudicate it based upon the law.

Ours was submitted to Lima via Rio and it had the clips on the top. No holes were punched and it was about 4 inches thick. It was approved. Our lawyer did the entire thing and we just handed it in the way they gave it to us.

Thanks Pinkpig. I just get obssesed with everything because I don't want to commit mistakes anymore. I don't want them to lose the other parts of the waiver, that's why I asked about the clips. One big clip is not enough for the thickness. Anyway, thanks again for the advice.

I so understand ...one of the hardest parts about this process is all of the unknown. Try to spend some time thinking about or doing some other things....I know ....but obsessing over this 24/7 will do you in.......Hugs!!!
