I have a 601 pending at VSC, but for my business I need to visit clients and attend trade shows in the US ASAP. Am I even eligible for a B-1 given that I have a I-601 filed in conjunction with a Permanent Residence Application?
Any insight would be appreciated.

What's the reason for needing a 601? I think it's highly unlikely that you would be eligible for a B1 but the details could make all the difference.

Very unlikely...have you applied for the I-192 advance parole?

I have not. Honestly didn't know about it until you told me. What are the timelines for these, and what are the restrictions? I would ideally like to be able to cluster a trade event and 3 or 4 client/prospect visits if this is a one shot deal. for $265 fee, assuming I get it in before the end of the month, I would ideally spend a couple of weeks travelling about to see people. Is this really a feasible option? is it realistic to get this done within a couple month timeframe? A quick search has not shown any processing times for the app.
Thank you for the pointer and any additional help you could provide.

Varies depending on your circumstances and the Consulate you have to deal with.
I have seen them given in surprising circumstances.

Well, the I-192 takes many months to approve in Canada, so I guess that is out of the question. iIt requires RCMP reports and paperwork, and has to be looked over and approved..very time consuming I am afraid.
P.S.- when we looked at the I-192, the wait time was close to one year for approval applying through Toronto.

Got the fingerprints done and mailed in. They say that it's 150 days to get results from Ottawa these days. That's about half what it took last time I had to do this. We'll see. I'll send in the I-192 if I haven't heard anything yet, or if they deny it. At this point, I mostly just want to be able to visit work clients but if they deny me it will be to put my house on the market. The housing bubble picked a crappy time to bust. :-(
