Wow..... what could she be thinking? What in the world can a 13 year old offer you? I honestly think that women, on a whole, are getting more and more desperate and losing all sense of standards.
I will spare you all the soap box I was about to get on.

That is just sick. I live in the city where the Mary K stuff happened and she still lives here. You can see them at times like going to the store and stuff like that. It is sick and weird. I mean I know people when they are older and maybe a boy is 25 and girl is 33, but he is a child!! What the heck he is 13! My little sister is 14 and I would hurt anyone who was 25 and touched her.....granted I would hurt anyone that touched her, but still just sick sick sick

Teacher arrested in Mexico, boy released By OSKAR GARCIA, Associated Press Writer
44 minutes ago
LEXINGTON, Neb. - A teacher accused of running away with a 13-year-old student planned a romantic life with him in his native Mexico, but she was near broke when they were captured there, authorities said Saturday.
Their border crossing during a week on the lam may mean the teen, an illegal immigrant, will not be able to come back to the rural Nebraska town where he was an eighth-grader.
The boy's relatives told police he had called home asking for money, leading investigators to a shopping mall in the border city of Mexicali on Friday. Kelsey Peterson, 25, and Fernando Rodriguez, 13, were taken into custody without incident in the parking lot.
Peterson, a sixth-grade math teacher and basketball coach at Lexington Middle School, fled with the boy after police began investigating whether the pair had an intimate relationship, authorities said. Court documents said the boy was last seen Oct. 26.
An international hunt was under way after Peterson's car was spotted crossing into Mexico on Tuesday.
"They didn't have a very well-defined plan, it was basically to continue driving into Mexico to hide," said Alfredo Arenas, the Baja California state police official who detained Peterson. "This was a mutual agreement to flee after the story came out that they were having sex."
The Associated Press generally does not identify people who may be victims of sex crimes, but the boy's name had been widely publicized as police searched for him.
Peterson was turned over to the FBI early Saturday. The boy was turned over to relatives in Mexicali because he was an illegal immigrant in the United States and was not allowed to return, Arenas said.
Fernando's uncle, Pedro Raya, said he spoke to the boy Saturday and they agreed he would go to the family's rural hometown in the southern state of Guanajuato, mainly because of his immigration status.
"He's OK," said Raya, 47, of Yuma, Ariz. "I just told him to stay over there in Mexico and the FBI is going to take care of everything."
Dawson County Attorney Elizabeth Waterman said Saturday she knew about Fernando's immigration status but did not know how it was going to affect her case against Peterson.
"That's one of the things we need to evaluate so I really don't have an answer at this time," Waterman said. "I don't know if that information is completely accurate or if that's subject to change, but we're dealing with that."
Peterson is charged with kidnapping, child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in Nebraska. She's also faces federal charges of transporting a minor across state lines or a foreign border for sexual activity, U.S. Attorney Joe Stecher said.
Stecher said he didn't intend to double-prosecute Peterson, and would work with Waterman to decide in which jurisdiction she would face charges.
Court documents showed authorities had recovered several e-mails and letters in which Peterson and the boy professed their affection for one another.
In letters, the boy called Peterson his "Baby Gurl" and said their relationship was "just not about the sex but that it was pretty good," according to the court documents.
Fernando was an eighth-grader at Lexington Middle School, but district Superintendent Todd Chessmore said Rodriguez had been in Peterson's 6th-grade math class. He said he placed Peterson on paid administrative leave on Oct. 25.
Peterson's school-issued laptop contained letters to the student, including one from April saying she loved him, thought he loved her, was "100 percent faithful" to him and would always be faithful, the court documents state.
Laura Rodriguez also said the family believed Peterson gave the boy a cell phone without his family's knowledge so she could reach him more easily. There was no response to messages left for a cell phone listed to a Kelsey Peterson of Lexington.

that is disgusting! i am a teacher--i teach 10th grade, which means anywhere between 15-17, most of the time...and i would NEVER even think about touching one of my students! EEW! they are definitely children even though they may be physically mature. they behave and think like children and they depend on me to set an example for them. EEW! seriously...

I think a great end-solution for the boy (and whomever of his family that needs it) would be the new U Visas (http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/U-visa_05Sept07.pdf) or something else because of the trafficking / exploitation of a minor...

Evidently someone had the same idea or read mine: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21750161/
"OMAHA, Neb. - A 13-year-old illegal immigrant who fled to his native Mexico amid a sex scandal with his schoolteacher could be eligible to return to the United States under a new visa the government started granting the week before he disappeared.
The visa helps illegal immigrants who are victims of sex crimes. If the boy, who spent most of his life in Lexington, Neb., qualifies, he could stay legally in the United States for four years and eventually apply for permanent residency. It also would extend temporary residency to his parents and his unmarried siblings under 18, if they applied for it.
"It's a win-win," U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services spokeswoman Marilu Cabrera said of the so-called "U" visa. "It helps us and law enforcement be able to solve a crime, and it certainly helps the individual who is a victim of a crime."
The boy and middle school teacher Kelsey Peterson were found in a mall parking lot in the border town of Mexicali, Mexico, 1,500 miles from where the pair disappeared on Oct. 26. Authorities searched for them for one week.
Teacher detained
Peterson, 25, remains in federal custody in El Centro, Calif. A judge denied bail for her Wednesday, and she was expected to be sent back to Nebraska to face federal charges of crossing state lines to have sex with a minor, which is punishable by 10 years to life in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The Associated Press had previously named the boy but later removed his name from stories because the most recent charges allege he was the victim of a sex crime.
The boy told the AP earlier this week that he would be willing to return to the United States to testify against Peterson.
"That's something that we would have to consider as circumstances came up," said Joe Stecher, the U.S. attorney for Nebraska. "There are various methods that we could secure his presence here for testimony purposes, and we'll just deal with the circumstances as they come up."
Dawson County Attorney Elizabeth Waterman did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
Cabrera said a conviction would not be necessary for the boy to qualify for the visa.
"It doesn't matter what the outcome of the case is as long as they cooperate," she said.
A law enforcement agency, prosecutor or judge in the Peterson case would have to vouch for the boy and say he helped in investigating or prosecuting Peterson in order for the boy to qualify.
The Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000 established "U" visas to encourage illegal immigrants to report crimes against them. Cabrera said reviews of the rules by the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice delayed issuing the visas until this year."

A 25 year old and a 13 year old in a sexual relationship is disturbing enough but what makes it worse is that this woman was in a position of power and trust.
Aside from the obvious betrayal and criminal aspect to this, she clearly has mental health issues. I have to wonder how many other kids she has done this to and how many other minds she has warped.
I am very scared for this boy, she strikes me as the type of person that would commit a murder/suicide rather than give him up.

The most disturbing thing of all is the lack of concern that he was exploited because of his legal status.
This started when he was 12. Do you think if an adult woman without legal status was sleeping with 12 year old American boys this might be a bigger deal? Absolutely.
Lots of people just made it really obvious that a person is valued by the country he/she was born in.

Why do you feel that his legal status gave the teacher more leverage than she already had? His illegal status didn't even come into play until sometime after the story broke. Generally, when a victims legal status comes into play with criminal activity it's because the victims or the family members are reluctant to report it to the authorities out of fear of being deported.
If anything, it's the fact that the victim was a BOY as opposed to a girl is significant.

You read it wrong, or the way I typed it was wrong. I was intending to point out that the public response has been focused on his status, not that the crime had anything to do with it.
What I should have said was that I'm disturbed by "the focus placed on his immigration status and not on the crime itself."

I don't feel the attention on his legal status is geared towards making him less sympathetic as a victim to sexual exploitation or that what happened is not concerning enough to be news worthy on its own. I feel that it's mentioned because now the issue is now compounded because he can't be reunited with his family in America because of it.

The women is a child molestor and she shouldn't be treated any differently than an adult man who molests a little girl. She has to be mentally ill to be sexually attracted to a 13 year old. I'm 26 and I can't imagine, even in my wildest fantasies, ever being with someone more than a few years younger than me, let alone a child!
