Here's our timeline. I am the alien, my hubby's the USC.
01/28/98 - Entered US on Student Visa [F1].
Aug 2002 - Applied for Assylum based on my HIV status.
Dec 2002 - Initial assylum denied and case sent to Immigration judge
Aug 2003 - Granted assylum
10/6/03 - Met hubby online. Yes, it works!!!
12/25/03 - Hubby proposes. What a nice Christmas gift
05/11/04 - We get married on a beach in FL. Oh, happy day!!
11/25/04 - Mailed AOS package. [used a lawyer]
11/22/05 - AOS interview. The AO was very nice, the interview took about
10 minutes if that. We were informed that I needed to file an
I-601 due to my HIV status. [So much for using a lawyer].
12/13/05 - Filed I-601 with USCIS.
04/10/06 - Info pass appt. Told that they did not receive the I-601
[luckily I had a confirmation receipt and copy of the I-601.
Gave it to AO. Told to wait about 6 weeks.
07/10/06 - Info pass appt. This time met with the AO who interviewed
us. He was very helpful. The I-601 had still not been sent out
to CDC for approval. He gave me his direct number to call for
status instead of making info pass appts and promised to send
the I-601 appln to CDC that same day.
07/15 - 8/21/06 Called the AO every week to find out status. He was nice
enough to check each time and advise me that CDC had not
returned with a decision. I also contacted CDC directly each
week to find out the status of the application.
8/24/06 - I-601 approved!!!
08/31/06 - Welcome to US letter and GC arrives. It's for 10 years.
Yippeee!!!:thumbup::bounce:
