We're trying to decide whether to drive to Mexico in September for our 1st interview in MX, or to fly there and not worry about it.
Does anyone know of a good "mexican" mapquest site? Mapquest and Yahoo does not provide maps/directions outside US :dunno:
As a kids, we used to go drive to MX every summer from Wisconsin to Jalisco, MX (I know, a long-a** drive, but as kids it was a fun trip) so I know what we're getting into, I just don't know what would be the best/fastest routes. Any tips will be greatly appreciated

Well When My Husband Had His Interview Whe Drove From California To Ciudad Juares Whe Actually Parked Our Truck In El Paso And Then Just Got A Taxi, But Just Be Carefull Because Most Taxis Get Comission By Taking You To The Most Expensive Hotels. They Say That Because The Other Ones Are More Dengarous, But Thats Not True. We Stayed On One That Is Right Next To The Consulate, It Wasnt Fancy But The People Were Very Nice. Good Luck. My Husband Has Been In Michoacan Waiting For Almost 6months Already. Aver Que Pasa!

My husband also lived in Michoacan, where is your husband from? Go to expedia.com that is where we maped our trip from Arizona to Michoacan....we also got a Guia Roja map (Mexican States) and calculated how much toll roads were by going to http://aplicaciones4.sct.gob.mx/sibuac_internet/ControllerUI?action=cmdEscogeRuta
Good Luck!

I have driven to Puebla several times and honestly I bought the road atlas that includes Mexico from Wal-Mart for like $12.95. It was the best investment. It is large and shows all the roads and small towns that we needed to pass through. We asked a couple times for help but that was it.
It worked for us. Hope you have fun either way you go!!!!

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate your help. I'll definitely look through all the links.
I was thinking of buying an Atlas to have it handy, but first we need to decide if we're driving or flying.
Hope everyone is having a great day :hippy:

As mentioned, at least in the north of Mexico, toll roads can be quite common. The roads are a little rough, and the highways are narrower than in the United States, with no shoulders. Non-Mexican citizens will need an FMT for travel into the interior, along with other paperwork and costs on vehicles (for flying the FMT is usually incorporated on the trip and its costs, but of course costs much more).
Hope everyone is having a great day
I will rest a little easier once the major half of my road trip is completed tomorrow...

We will be driving too for our 1st interview. We will be leaving on the 29 from Austin, TX to CDJ and after done with everything we will drive from CDJ to Zacatecas, Mexico. I checked the cuota website http://aplicaciones4.sct.gob.mx/sibu...=cmdEscogeRuta which is the recommended way of going since is safer. We are still nervous for the driving but we are going to do it. Good Luck
