Im sending the DS-230 tomorrow. Just want to make sure its all in order.
I have the originals of everything. I need to send photocopies of all as well?
On #31 it asks about criminal stuff. I put that he got a traffic ticket for driving w/o license, no insurance. All was paid for. Do I have to submit the cpoies of the ticket? Or the papers that say it was paid for? It was 2 years ago, and I have nothing of such papers. What do I do? I was just going to send it like that. Just stating the fact, but not really sending anything. I kinda wanted to change it and put no, but everytime I ask, everyone gives me mixed answers.
Help.

Hey there ...Well I had the same problem but NVC asked me to provide court records to show proof that everything was paid in full and what violations I had committed...I also had traffic tickets involving not having a drivers license!
I suggest you go to your local court house and request court records, it will be 15 bucks per ticket I believe...but on the court records, it will provide all the information on the violations, and if they have been paid...it will also be sealed by the court system.
:D

Darn, one more thing to do. But I guess its better if I just get that out of the way. Did you get those records right away?

So just court records? My hubby's police record came back clean, and the DMV only had one of his 3 issues on file. I have got 1 of his court records and am getting the other 2 next week. Will just those be enough?

I just got went to the courthouse 2 days ago and yeah it was pretty fast. I called first, but I don't think that would have made a difference. Anyway they charged me $3 bucks. I'm guessing it will be different in each state. (Police records took longer, Like a week, I think)

My hubby had traffic tickets also, driving with no license and one for speeding...I just said NO on the Criminal Question...since it's not criminal..
And in CDJ they asked him if he had any Criminal record he said No and that was that!

:gaah:
Mu hubby had a speeding ticket, minor one though since it was 7 mph above the limit. I think we'll go get a copy of that just to be on the safe side.
We placed that he did have a speeding ticket and he went to traffic school and was cleared on the DS-230 since I read the same thing on a previous post.

Wouldn't it be criminal if "driving without a license" is considered a misdemeanor in ones particular state?
Anyone know if anyone can get someone's court records? Or it has to be the person who committed the offense, or their spouse?

I asked soo many times here in forums..and I was told it wasn't criminal and that CDJ didn't care about traffic violations!
& obviously not because they didn't bring this up on the appt.

Well I got finger printed...when I got pulled over....I was actually arrested and was in the local police station arrested for 9 hours...they took finger prints and pictures...and it was only for not having a dumb drivers license...but all I had to show was my court records and that was it. :innocent:

well, he didnt get fingerprinted, he just got a ticket. I got the court paper (its a copy of the ticket and the receipt that says paid).
So Im still debating on just putting no. Its like why give them more, if its not necessary.
Its off by tomorrow, no matter what, I just got to go with one way or another.
Monki, I would have had my appoint in Juarez for April but the hubs wanted to wait a bit, then changed his mind. The ball is rolling......

I think I finally figured this out! If driving without a drivers license is considered a misdemeanor in ones particular state, then it would be considered criminal and therefore need to be explained on the DS-230 and have the court record included when sent. So far, I have seen that the following states consider driving without a license a misdemeanor: California, Texas, New York & Florida. Info Here.
