Once waiver is approved and spouse has to go pick up visa, are they still requiring proof (from the time of the IV appt to pick up appt) of never having left their country?
If so-- What is acceptable proof, if husband lives with his parents, has no bills in his name?

They never ask that of me.... Plus, I couldn't go nowhere anyways as they took my passport (not because they're scared that I'd leave to the US or go places) but because they need it to stamp/sticker it for the visa. Other that that, they never asked for further proof of anything...

Hi,
I think that the proof would be:
- Copy of the passport ( where it would no stamps of arrival/departure),
- copy of money transfers ( if you were sending some to him)
- copy of the bills he paid
- pay stub ( if he worked)
- pictures ( parties and so on)
- copies of your emails/letters,....
I am actually a little bit confused, proof that he did not leave the country or not to entered the US back?
When we were waiting for the waiver, we meet in the 3rd country and that was fine ( as long as you are not crossing the US borders).
Good luck.

Yeah, Ginger- proof that he didn't re-enter the US since that is probably all that they care about. Thanks for your help!

I just returned from the visa interview and I specifically asked if he could travel to Mexico while waiting for waiver aproval and they said that there is no problem. I will be making an appointment with infopass to double check

I think that each consulate is different. When our waiver was approved (husband is from Czech Republic and the waiver started in Vienna and then went to Frankfurt for final adjudication), Frankfurt faxed or emailed the US Embassy in Prague our approval. The same day that we got our approval letter, we contacted the Embassy in Prague and was given a visa pick-up date for 2 days later. They never asked us for any other information. It was very fast and easy for us. Now, I have heard where people had to submit more proof (of the relationship I think) or had to submit another medical record. I guess the medical record will depend on if it was over a year since your interview and the time that the waiver was approved.
Again, this is my experience and I know that each consulate is different. Your local US Embassy should direct you on what you will need. Best of luck to you and your spouse!

P.S. I don't understand why they would want more proof of the relationship, this should have all been clear with the interview and the waiver approval....JMO.

No, not proof of the relationship... sometimes I've heard that they want proof of where he's been since the initial interview is all.
Anyone know if you have to repay the visa fee if the pick up is over a year after the 1st interview? I thought I read somewhere that they weren't doing that anymore... I know the medical has to still be redone, right?

Joy&Pain - I don't think anyone has ever had to actually provide proof in CDJ. A lot of people bring it, but no one ever reports being asked. I wouldn't stress it.

I'm not stressing, I'm preparing. ;)
We haven't been approved yet, but we will be and my husband is just asking lotsa questions. You know how they can be! :D

It's as Cynthia says. All they have to do is look at the passport stamp pages. And even if he lives in the Schengen countries it would still be ok.

I just received a reply from the Guatemala Consulate. They respoded that he can visit other countries except for USA. My husband still has his passport with him.

I understand that each type of visa is different...ours was a K-1 and we had to repay the $100.00 fee even though it had only been 8 months.

Thanks Shelly. Ours is IR1 visa, so I believe they stopped charging for the visa fee again after 1 year, but couldn't remember...
Congratulations on your recent wedding!!!
