My husband has said that his priest (in Mexico) said he would marry us if I had a paper saying I had never been married in the Catholic church. Do any of you know what kind of paper he is talking about and where I could get it?

We want to try one more time to get married in his church in Mexico when we go in October.

Huh...good question. I don't know what kind of paper he is talking about, but I am assuming (and somebody correct me if I am wrong) that because this is one of the sacraments that one enters into with the Catholic church...it can only be done once. I would go to you church and talk with your priest to see if he can help you.

Let me know...I am curious now.

BTW...congratulations on the marriage. I hope that it a very beautiful day for you and your future hubby! :)

We have been trying since he went back to get married in his church. We were married here in a civil ceremony..but his Mom wants us to get married in the church. His priest here said he would baptize me in the church here and he also is going to help me go through the church and get my other ( been married 2 other times) marriages annulled..but my mother-in-law informs us that we have to have a paper saying I have never been married in the Catholic church.

The paper stating you got your marriages annulled and your baptism would be that proof you would be able to marry in mexico. I had mine anunulled when i was baptized.

Google is amazing, I bet if you searched there you might find an answer.

My wife and I also did a civil marriage even though we are both catholic. we have to go through either 3 or 6 months of Catholic counceling before we can be married in the Catholic Church. One of these days we will do that, but, first things first.
Take care, and God Bless

That's correct mi corazon, in the Catholic religion you can only be married in a church once unless you are widowed or it is annulled (I think). Once you are divorced, you're not supposed to receive communion either.
(but it's okay for a murderer too?)

Anyways, I would ask your priest.

How much did your annulment cost you chula? Our church wanted $600 up front and then an additional $300 once it was done. Oh and here you have to attend marriage classes twice a month for 12 months before you can marry and all weddings are in the morning, no afternoon or evening weddings. So hubby and I think we'll just get married in the church that his family goes to in Mexico.

NOTHING are you serious??? Damn I'm going to KC to get my annulment then. Sheesh. I couldn't believe how much they wanted, then right in the middle of getting our paperwork together they traded priests. I think that's why the cost came about because this priest is strict and by the book. He even makes an announcement during mass that you are not to leave until the mass is OVER. You know how some people leave before communion or during it? Well that's a NO NO with Father Jim. :innocent:

$700 it's just nuts! Nuts I say. You know god forbid I was married to an abuser and I got away from him and now I want to do things right and get married in the church and I can't because it costs so much money.

Maybe they're in cahoots with immigration :bounce:

I don't know much about this as I said before but it seems crazy that a church of all places has a "fee". Shouldn't everything be based on donations??????

I can't believe a church would do that to it's members. It does sounds like immigration!!!!!!
