08/2007 Interviewed my 7th attorney. I liked him and hired him.

09/07/2007 Mailed out forms [I-485, I-130, I-765 ]

09/20/2007 INS received the file.

09/24/2007 Lawyers office receives the receipts.

09/26/2007 I get the copy of the receipts form the lawyer.

09/26/2007 I create an online account at uscis.gov and can view all my forms.

10/01/2007 Received a biometrics appointment.

10/17/2007 My biometrics appointment date.

10/23/2007 Lawyers requested I-864, copy of tax return and copy of w-2s and 1099. Also evidence supporting 245I (I don't know what that is).

11/29/2007 Mailed out RFE to USCIS.

12/13/2007 Website Update: I485 case processing resumed

12/24/2007 Received the 245i Receipt for $1000 in the mail

I am still waiting to update the timeline. Waiting is hard.

Waiting for an answer has caused a stalemate in my life. I can't move (change of address is something I don't want to add to my stress). I can't look for a job or get a job. I can't plan for the uncertain future.

And not having a job sucks because it gives me a lot of time to think.

Maybe $8000 when it is all said and done.

I chose to keep a lawyer.

Even tiny updates like a receipt for RFE is exciting. Sometimes the days of waiting seem like months.

The cost include lawyer fees, INS Fees, including $1000 245I fee, making copies of documents, passport pictures, medical, overnighting files, ect....

Yeah I am sure if people added up all the expenses it would be a shocker. All the little expenses add up.

But you are right it is like a investment! Thats a great way of looking at it.
