First of all I would like to say thanks to everyone who contributes to this site. It has been a great help already.

I am a US Citizen and have been married to an illegal immigrant from Honduras for amost 4 years now. We have the most precious 2-year-old in the world, and my wife is expecting our second in January. We have tried to just live with the situation and make the best of it up until now, but it has continued to get worse with the way they have really started cracking down on illegals. My wife stays home with our son and is scared to drive or do anything on her own for fear of being picked up. We often hear of ICE raids within minutes of where we live, sometimes picking up van-loads at a time. My wife is unable to have absolutely any kind of life, other than just locking herself in our home and hoping for the best. With this huge cloud adding to the stresses of being the only income provider, trying to raise a child (soon to be two), and trying to deal with a lonely, depressed, hormonal pregnant woman who is unable to do anything more than sit at home and wait for me to get home from work, I am about at my wits end. I have decided we have got to figure out some way to deal with this immigration issue. Here are the details of her situation. Any advice is more than appreciated!

She crossed the border Jan 2001 (she was 17, not sure if this is relevant or not) and was detained by immigration. Since she was a minor, she was put in a holding facility in Texas for minors. She was released a few months later and given a court date in Atlanta (almost all of her family is from the Atlanta area). She went to court Summer 2001 and was told she had to leave (not sure of this was an official deportation or some type of order to voluntarily depart, is there a difference?). She was not detained and physically deported, she was simply given a date when she had to be gone from the country. She did not leave. I married her in December 2003 and we have been married since.

I love this woman deeply. It pains me more than I can describe to have to see her go through this. I would gladly move to Honduras and live with her there if it weren't for our children--that's how much of a burden this has become. Thanks in advance for any advice! I don't know where to turn (All of the many lawyers we have visited over the years either treat us like we are a fraud or act like they have little to no interest in helping us). I am tired of paying $150 so I can be referred to someone else. Please Help!
