Hello to all of you old school memeber and new members.

My husband's I-601 wavier was approved on June 19th of 2007. On July 24th we got word that we need to submit the following info

Passport
new medical
2 new passport photos
new RCMP police record
new affidavit form
forms ds-230 part 1 and 2

We could not send those items in because we lacked the new up to date RCMP records. I submitted new finger prints in March of 2007 in hopes that we would get them back in 3 months. believe it or not.... We were in Sept and still nothing. My husband and I made a special trip to Ottawa where the main office, in hopes that we would walk away with his new record. Little did we know, we walked away with saddness. We found out that my husband's application was posted in THE system in Aug of 2007 and it takes 120 days from aug. to get new records returned to us. That would be in Dec sometime.......

I did the unusal, and faxed and emailed the director of the department twice a week until today we got word today that my husbands new record will be here in less then a week.

Now I need to know from peeps who have files and been approved in canada, how they got their appointment and how long it took. My eyes must be playing games with me, because i thought I read 4 to 5 months to get an appt. in Montreal.

MY QUESTION is

can we just go to Montreal between the hours it says on the recording????

8 to 11am???? Do we need an appt???? really.

I didn't have an appointment. I mailed the passport and new RCMP report to them and they sent back the visa to us. Call and see if you can send in your documents with a prepaid Canada Post Express envelope..that is what we did.

Does Monteral Notify you about the Approval Or is it something we have to ask if they got Approval Notices. Unfortunetly Montreal is No More providing live support for Immigrant Visa So the only way to communicate NowDays is through Email.

Montreal mailed the approval letter to me, but I found out before that via e-mail from the uscis.gov e-mail service.

Hi Kenaly, Can you let me know the exact email address for uscis.gov so I inquire about my case. I have strong feeling that my 601 case has fall out of process and will stay delay unless it is intervened.

Thanks,

I am so glad you all are writing about this! Now I can go ahead and get hubby to process his, so that hopefully when he is approved he will already have his.

All waiver applications have to have the fingerprint record from Canada, even 212's right?

How long are the criminal reports valid?

The RCMP report is good for one year.

There is not an e-mail address address..you sign up for e-mail updates on your case from uscis. You create a "case status" account here:

Please get on this right away. I sent in for my husbands third set of rcmp prints in March of 2007. They had not been entered into system until aug of 2007 it take about 120 days from the date of entry to get info and after that they sent you, stamped prints and record.

So please take care of this so they is no delay on your end.

The MAIN office in Ottawa claims to get 18,000 plus requests a month.

To my well doing I got my husbands request for updated records... they should be in the mail today.

Kenaly~

When you husband got his visa in the mail, did he get a passport too? Is this why they want passport style photos? I am so glad we did not pack up and move to Mexcio.

Cause the recmp office called us twice to let us know they sent out my husband's rcmp report. Thank goodness.

it took 2 weeks of faxes and emails... to the director of the fingerprint department and emails to the PM's office. But we got it... Wooooo.

I was wondering if you thik my husband might be able to get his vias if we go to montreal and hand in his requested forms??? That is why I ask if they get a passport, because if they do then I know we shouldn't make that trip....

He mailed his passport to the Montreal office and they returned it to him with the visa and all of the other documents in the brown envelope he handed in at customs.

I remember asking that question at the time of interview, and the respond was that "Once the waivers are approved, Visa can be done through mail". You should be able to get visa without making trip unless there is other outstanding issues.

the outstanding issue i have is that I want to get back together with my kids! So this trip is very important to me, if we can get it then it is a super duper bonus.

I can't wait up to 4 weeks, which is what one of the peeps emailed me with on friday

Indeed we need to get back to our families. You are still step ahead of me, at least your status is communicated to Montreal. At the moment, the only way I can find my status is through phone.
