Suggestion: write to A & E and ask them to do a reality series on immigration so the public can see what is actually happening.

I didn't even know A& E made reality shows.

Haven't you ever seen "Dog the Bounty Hunter" or "The First 48" or "Intervention" or "Gene Simmons: Family Jewels"? That last one is a bit more than "partiall" scripted. I lost interest on the camping trip episode when their trailer got both a snake and a bear in one day. That was too scripted for me as they obviously brought both animals to the set.

Actually, I never watch A&E, so I don't know why I would have had any idea about their level of reality television. I'm a Bravo/TLC/Travel Channel girl...

I have, its good show. Maybe we should and let them know what its really like for immigrants and there families. I live in south texas, and someone has already done that here. I live near 7 borders, and its the same story in the news. and lots of them are dying and some of them are women and children.....

How about PBS or NPR...

Cable is the brain rot of America, don't have it & don't want it.

PBS or NPR might not be much different from posting stuff here in that we'd be presenting information to people who are likely to already agree with us. We need to reach the people with the rotting brains.

I had emailed A&E a while back and got no response. Today I decided to write. I got the corporate address, but I wasn't sure whether that was the right place to send a program idea. I looked all over the A&E website and couldn't find any helpful info on where to mail a program idea. So I decided to try finding out who produces some of the reality shows. Come to find out, most of the reality shows A&E buys are actually created by the corporation Granada America. Its Granada America that decides what shows to produce and they then sell the shows to the various networks.

I found the website for Granada America and found that they have short biographies on some of their producers. I looked over the bios to see what each person was interested in. I decided that probably John X. Kim would be the most likely person to be interested in creating a show about immigration cases. I suggested Cancellation cases and Pilot Program Waiver cases to him as they have a short, dramatic climax to the case that works more practically in a tv show. Granada America has an LA address and an NYC address. I don't know which office he works from, so I sent the letter addressed to him at both addresses. Hopefully he works at one or the other, rather than at some unreachable off-site location.

Maybe nothing will come of this, but at least I'm trying.

I like the idea but some people just won't care no matter what.. many people have no sympathy even for us, and even if they do, they will get sad for us for about a minute and then change the channel to Paris Hilton party videos & Britney Spears custody news..

It would be nice to also include those who are not dealing with Mexico so that the US public will see that immigrants come from all over.

What about Michael Moore? He has been a great advocate and educator for other social issues. He has a huge audience and his email address is posted on his website:

Has anyone seen the True Life or 30 Days specials on illegal immigration?

Oh Laurel, you always think outside the box. That's why we all love you!!!! I wish they would do a reality show. The people with the "rotting brains" would finally get the picture and have a change of heart, I think. Any response yet?
