A sombrero tip to Rich (http://mexfiles.wordpress.com) for bringing attention to this series of articles from the McAllen (TX) Monitor on the effects the proposed border wall on the economy, ecology and population of this border town.
A few weeks ago I heard an interview on NPR with the mayor of Laredo, Texas, and he was vehemently against this wall. I find it fascinating that many of those MOST affected by the actual traffic of undocumented immigrants are not in favor of these measures. This just goes to show how out of touch the anti-immigrant groups, most of our Congresspeople and a lot of misled Americans are about migrant immigration and the border.
I've been wanting to gather articles and interview transcripts for a blog post on this topic, but I haven't had time. If anyone else finds similar stories, please post.
