It was perfect timing for me, too, to read something like that. I was so sick at the end of the day yesterday, I had to turn off the computer and vow never to go back to certain sites because of the racist, and down right mean comments that I have been reading on some immigration forums. I like to go to things like yahoo answers to help the people that go on there looking for real answers to their questions, but I get so sad/upset/etc when I read the "anti-immigration" posts... It does give me a little hope when I can give someone an answer to a legitimate question when others are just bashing them... how do you deal with those people??

Mrs. Hector -- I totally get burned out reading immigration stuff online too. Thankfully, I have accumulated a list of sites of people (bloggers and more liberal newsy sites) that I mostly spend time on, where people are generally like-minded. When I branch out into other sorts of forums, I just try to stay calm in my responses, or just stop reading stuff that's really offensive.

I've written a number of opinion columns for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and gotten a big mix of responses. I have relatively thick skin, but I definitely hit my limit sometimes... and then just take some time off from reading.

Good idea, time off would be best for me I think, and I did go to your site and noticed the links, I'll try going there to read instead!! Thanks, it's so sad that this "debate" has become such a hateful thing... :rolleyes:
