I would just like an update on the immigration reform law. Are they saying it will pass with a new president? What about any talk on bringing back 245i? Any help in the law for families? Thanks.

Who are "they?" There is no way to know if any immigration reform will pass in a year or two years or ten years. There is no bill being discussed right now, and theoretically, a completely new and unpredictable bill will be created after the elections, but even that is uncertain. The way the climate is in the U.S. toward immigrants (more and more hostile toward unlawfully present immigrants IMHO) should give you an indication of what sort of actions Congress will take. Frankly, I don't think we are going to get an immigrant-friendly CIR for a long, long time. That's just my opinion though.

There was no provision to re-instate 245i in the last CIR bill. I would not count, or even consider, that 245i will be reinstated. It has not been discussed seriously since 2001.

There is quite a bit of activity related to immigration going on, particularly in the House. What will get considered in a vote over the coming months is expected to be more along the lines of piecemeal proposals, rather than a big grand scheme such as CIR was. AFU has been working diligently with Congress through our lobbyists and meeting directly with our specific legislators to continue the dialog and push for reform for familes.

The new Democratic Chairman of the House Judiciary subcommitte on Immigration is Zoe Lofgren. She is VERY family friendly and immigration savvy, being a former immigration attorney. American Families United has been working with her office and others to bring the issues of Family Unity so that our issues can be included in legislation that gets considered.

All of this is still in the behind the scenes activities, lots of lobby/education going on and working to gain broad support for the narrow issues of Family Unity in immigration.

You can hear a bit more on what AFU has been working on and some of what is happening in the House and Senate in the radio interview one of the AFU lobbyists did this week. It is posted on the site here: http://immigrate2us.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3441

You can find out more about AFU from the link in my sig.
