Hi everyone, this forum has given me so much information so I'm hoping someone out there can help.
I recently became a citizen. Because I started my I-130 petition as an LPR, I called Customer Service to upgrade. They took my information and said they were going to request a review and upgrade my petition from LPR to citizen. I asked if I needed to send proof of my citizenship and was told no, everything was taken care of.
Well, I went to the USCIS website to see if I could find any info and I found out that I did indeed needed to send a letter/request along with a copy of my naturization certificate and I-130 receipt. I sent to directly to the CSC.
Last Friday, I received a letter saying that USCIS had reviewed my file as I requested but that they were not out of processing time for an LPR and that it was taking about 5 years for visas to become available for tha category. They did not mention that my petition was being upgraded. The letter does mention that if my status changed to citizen, to send a letter/request and supporting documents to the fax they provide to the I-130 upgrade department.
Since I already sent a hardcopy, should I also fax it? I just don't want to confuse them (as it seems they don't need any help doing that ;)) by duplicating the request. Or is it better to cover several basis rather than take the chance that it may not get done?
