Late in his life Theodore Roosevelt also railed against immigration - quotes that come up often on anti-immigration forums (but usually with the incorrect dates when he was President). Much of it was directed at the waves of German and other European migrants that were not adjusting to what he viewed as the American way of life and English as a language (saying if one could not learn English they needed to return to their home country). His "one flag" words (three days before he died) were directed at German migrants flying the flag of their country in the United States!
