Congrats to all of you on your approvals. Just one question...how did you all survive without seeing your spouses??
kphillips
07-15-2007, 01:52 PM
The only way I survive is because my work allowed me to go visit my wife and 2 year old son (he'll be 3 before they come home) every month. And my credit card allowed me to pay for that. It is hard, just stay positive and it will work out. Keep communicating, I talk to my wife and son on a daily basis.

THIS question can be for MAD, she went the whole time whitout seeing her hubby I am sure it was very hard but she pulled through and the reunion was beautiful and emotional I cried when seeing her pictures. I am happy and blessed to have a good job with benefits the too allowed me to go visit my hubby and the credti cards well they jsut keep adding up seeing my hubby is priceless I would pay anything to have those few days with him.

I'm sorry Ellie, that's how all last week was for me. These last few months are driving me nuts!!! Gosh darnit, he's approved to get his visa, so why can't he have it already???!!!!:mad: We're almost the same, he'll of been gone 14 months when he gets his visa and I won't have seen him for 8!!! Being approved makes you happy and gets rid of alot of the stress, but you're still seperated, so it still sucks!

I am in such an anticipation mood these days!:bounce:
I just pray for a decision on our I601 waiver very soon! It has become almost too much to handle.
I sent in yesterday a large addendum packet to CDJ/DHS with more info, both medical and personal info, and enclosed a large typed note indicating to please send on to the appropriate Embassy that may have our original file now that they are forwarding our files out.
I miss my husband so much, and know one day soon we will have our approval, I only speak in positive manners and keep on praying, it's like he has been gone forever. He has been gone 9 1/2 months and I haven't seen him since Christmas.:bye:
When will this nightmare be over with so we can all have our spouses back home? I too cannot understand why it is taking 3-4 months to pick up the Visa's that is so unfair! Wish Oscar could resolve that too?

Juniperthimble, no there's not a thread that has visa pickup experiences! I would love it if people would post that here also, so it could be all together! There are a couple people that have posted their experiences in a different thread. Like Hectorswife, Laurafern and maybe Kennah....

I know it's been asked before, but I couldn't find the threads- Is it okay to just bring in our recent tax forms for the affidavit of support, or do we actually have to fill out a new affidavit with our taxes?
Good luck today to Ara_bonita, Esposita, Azul and Maripoza!!!!
Junpierthimble, I don't know the answer to yoru question, hopefully someone will chime in about this!
I do know that we are just going to bring a whole updated affidavit of support.
Good luck today Sunny!!! I hope everything is going great at your hubby's visa pickup!

M&M, does it still look to you like pick up dates are averaging 4 months out after approval?
M&M, does it still look to you like pick up dates are averaging 4 months out after approval?
It's reallly hard to tell since we've haven't really had any approvals lately. Dustingaletti so far is the only person I've seen get one that was so close(less than 2 months). There are 3 people on teh Juarez forum who were approved early July that have not gotten a date yet! They have emailed and called and still nothing. So we'll have to see what dates these people get and the December approval.

My husband arrived home Tuesday, August 7th. Everything went great! His interview was August 3rd- He did NOT have to pay the $380. They took the new DS-230, AOS, 2006 taxes, new Visa pictures, Med exam, approval & appt notice. They only asked him one question- if he had left the country since his first interview. He did not have to provide proof. He turned everything in, was told to wait and about two hours later he was given his Visa and a packet of papers he was told NOT to open. He stayed with a friend in CDJ so he stayed there until Tuesday morning @ 4am. I don't know why he has to make me a nervous wreck, his plane was due to take off at 7:45! It didn't take long though. He said the guys at the border were rude and told him it would take 2 or 3 hours, but he was through in 1/2 hour and made it in plenty of time for his flight, which arrived in Louisville airport at 3:40pm. I cannot express the relief as I saw him walk towards us. A weight the size of Mexico was lifted from my shoulders. It was the happy day I had been waiting for. Hannah went right up and gave him a hug and Nicholas went to him without fussing at all. He is home alone with them today while I work, so I think they will feel very comfortable together very soon. I forgot what a great husband and father he is.
Oh, we went to the SS Administration yesterday. We didn't have to fill out a app., it was done via computer by the office. He only had to show his Visa. Life is going to be so much easier with that thing. They asked his parents names and our address. I think that was all! It took about 15 minutes total and they said we will probably have it within a week, though it could take 2 to 4. And get this, he ALREADY has a job! He starts Tuesday! He is excitedly looking through used car magazines and home brochures. It is so cute. We are so very relieved and let me tell you all- This whole long process is SO worth it. Hang in there everyone. Your day will come! Thank you all for the support and help. I will keep you posted as we recieve everything and I will check in frequently. Hugs to all))))

Kellieram visa pickup experience.
So my husband had his 2nd interview today, he started standing in line at 5a.m. and didn't get into the building until 7:30 but then was out by 11:00ish. He said all they asked him was how he worked in the U.S., meaning what documents he used..he told them and they sent him to a different room to wait then he got his visa and the packet for immigration. We waited at the bridge for about 2 hours...kind of slow and long but finally with a look of relief on his face he got it and we are now back in El Paso. Warning..some cab drivers seem to lie about how much they'll charge you to get across the border including the wait and all and then when they get you into El Paso they tell you way higher price! Don't buy that...make sure you have the agreed price set before you leave and tell them you only have that much to pay them. Anyways, that's the story. He did NOT have to pay the visa fee again thank God. So now life begins :0

HI everyone. Yes, Francisco finally has his visa after 14 months of hell in Mexico. He got out of the Consualte at about 3 yesterday. We went to pick up our bags at the hotel, then straight to El Paso. After three hours AT THE BRIDGE, we finally crossed last night at about 7.
Vinnie and her hubby were with us, so he got his Visa as well. We had actually met them the night before, so her hubby and mine were able to go from room to room together in the Consulate.
We also found skamiri yesterday while we were waiting, and her hubby got out at about 3:30 from his infopass with his Visa as well. They went to the border to get his stamp, then were on their way to Zacatecas.
We got home this morning at about 5, and now everybody is sleeping until the party starts tonight!!
My boys are finally home. I cannot believe it. Don't let me wake up!!

Ohcelia visa pickup experience.
Good morning America.
We been back since Thursday the 2nd of August. Here is a quick replay of our adventure. My husband arrived from Mexico City on 7/31/07, I flew in from Sacramento CA on 7/31/07 and my luggage was lost. I rented a van in El Paso Texas. It would had cost me $50.00 for the taxi to take me to the hotel. So I decided it would be less hassle and far more convenient and a lot cheaper to get around Juarez and Texas. We had a reservation at the Hoilday Inn Lincoln. For 2 nights. Since I had the van we went to find me some clothes I
need new chonies mine were lost. So I drove around until I found Wal-Mart in Juarez. Their Wal-Mart sucks.....Then to top it off I had to pay 2 pesos to park and shop there. We had the appointment on August 1st at 7:30am. We got there about 5:30am to get in line. They did not let me go in there with him so I had to stay across the street and I rented a chair $1.00 it was getting hot so I rented a umbrella for $3.00. Then it started to rain cats and dogs I was knee high in water within 5 minutes. It was raining so hard the umbrella broke. He came out about 2pm with his package. I walk and dance all the way to the hotel in the rain happy, because I we only had one more step to go, the border! We ended up waiting a while before we went to the border, and get the passport stamp. Due to the heavy load people in line. Once we got there we found a parking spot, it took about 2 hours for the final process to complete. Got in the van and cross over to Texas to get and find
an American Wal-Mart. Went to the airport to buy the ticket to go home.
Cross over again into Juarez for the night. The next morning we got up and
drove to the centro to complete a promise I made. I got change for a $100.00
into $50.00 pesos went to the little plaza and started to hand out $50.00 peso. I pick out the poorest of them and told them go go have a taco on us.
I was great to see a smile on their face. I think some of them were in shock.
That someone just gave them something. We eat in Juarez and then we drove to the airport in El Paso and came home.
Total cost of adventure
$ 210.00 (Mex to CJS)
$ 220.00 (SMF to ELP)
$ 149.00 (Hotel)
$ 165.00 (Van Rental)
$ 100.00 (Food & Junk)
$ 4.00 (Chair & Umbrella)
$ 560.00 (ELP to Sacramento CA)
TOTAL: $ 1404.00
BEING HOME: PRICELESS

Laurafern11 visa pickup experience.
Well, as I said on the other thread, all went well today, better than well really.
We are miraculously less than one year from the first interview, so we didn't have to do anything. I didn't bring any more forms, just my 2006 taxes. Of course he had all the copies from the interview last year, and some receipts to "prove" he was in Mexico the whole time. Fermin got in line a little before 6:00 am. He said there were already about 200 people ahead of him and by the time they started letting people in there were maybe 200 behind him.
He gave them the appointment letter when he went in and then waited about an hour for them to call his name. The guy apparently had some papers there, and he just asked for his passport. No questions about nada. At no point did they ask for any documents, not even the taxes. He was never asked if he had remained in Mexico the whole time (which of course he had, but it was unusual that he wasn't asked).
After he gave the guy the passport he went into the final processing area. He met Mr. Rendon there as well. At that point everyone else in the area was called up to answer some questions (did your wife come to visit, have you been in Mexico the whole time, etc). Fermin was getting worried because he was just waiting and waiting and they never called him. Then, about 10:00 am, they called like seven names, both Mr. Rendon and Fermin were called, and both received their mystery packets and their passports with visas.
About 10:15, just as I was leisurely getting out the shower at the Meson de Maruca, thinking I had hours to sit on the porch and read, someone knocked on the door. I put a shirt on and answered the door and there is my husband, with his pinche passport with visa!!!!!!!!
I was shocked, way shocked. I haven't heard of people getting out so early, but I guess I haven't paid tons of attention either.
So, the Rendons had a friend from CDJ driving them to the airport, so we followed them to the Cordova bridge where both had been told to go for the processing. At the bridge we parked our car outside and Marika, her husband's friend and I sat together while the hubbies turned in their packets, got fingerprinted again (??? is that normal) and then sat in another area until a stern, business-like migra lady came out with their passports. I would guess we were at the bridge for about an hour and a half. This was in the middle of the day.
I thought it was weird that we had to go to the Cordova bridge, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it yourselves if anyone else is driving there. It was easy to see the place to stop and and park right before the actual crossing area, and there is a nice, air-conditioned building for spouses, etc to wait.
Then, Fermin and Mr. Rendon walked through the actual border crossing while I got my car tapped and searched by the migra men. They checked my spare tire compartment, so make sure you don't hide any fruit or migrants in there.
And then we were off to get some lunch in El Paso and then drove north to Santa Fe, where we are staying tonight.
Honestly, I couldn't have asked for anything to have gone better than it did. We are lucky as hell I would say.
Thanks to everyone for their messages and encouragement on the other thread. I'm so glad this is over, but at the same time I know as long as I have time I will be on this site helping others through the process.

Congrats on your upcoming visa pick up, here's a copy of a pm that I sent to another member about what my husband took to the second interview and what he had to pay for, and a detail about the awesome taxi driver, Alfredo Delgado...
Here's a list of all that my husband took to the interview.
- New I-864 (sponser & co-sponser)
- 2006 W-2s (sponser & co-sponser)
- 2006 State & Federal taxes (sponser & co-sponser)
- letter from employer stating current wage/hours (sponser & co-sponser)
- current paystub (sponser & co-sponser)
- DS-230 visa application Parts I & II
- my husband's current passport
- phone records from my calls to mexico
- birth certificate (my husband's)
That's all that he took, our attorney prepared it all and didn't have us bring any of the other documents (marriage license, etc), however, I know other people do bring this.
He paid $25 (usd) for the taxi from the Juarez airport to the hotel. He paid $126 (usd) for 3 nights in a sencillo room at the Meson de Maruca. He paid $50 (usd) for the taxi from the hotel to the bridge to the El Paso airport. He paid $240 (usd) for the medical appointment with 2 vaccinations. He paid $10 (usd) for new passport photos. He brought the $380 to pay for the visa fee (or whatever that fee is??), but he didn't have to pay it!!! That was a pleasant surprise. I can't think of anything else... hmmm.
The taxi driver that he used was Alfredo Delgado, he's pretty well known on the site, and was great to my husband. He had my husband relax and eat before taking him to the bridge at a less busy time so that he wouldn't have to wait. He was really helpful with telling my husband where to sit and things at the point of entry, because I guess that the ladies there get pretty crabby! His phone number is 915-637-4988, I called him and gave him a heads up a few days in advance.

Kennah K3 visa pickup experience.
Well, since we had such a short notice for his pickup appointment I went feeling like I didn't have everything we needed.
CDJ faxed me a copy of the appointment letter so I had that.
My husband was dead set on having the medical two days before the appointment, just in case there were problems (last year the electricity was out at both clinics the day we went for the medical).
So I bought airline tickets and headed to Juarez on June 28th.
We got in line for the medical the next morning and were back at the hotel by 8:00 a.m. We went back at two to pick up the results (it took about 30 minutes).
Saturday and Sunday were boring. Although Sunday morning, we did take a taxi to Catholic Church in centro.
Monday morning we paid the Banamex fee and had passport photos made. We also needed to get a copy of the appointment package, so we went and stood in line for an hour and half at the information window.
Then we went to the market at centro. Just in case any of you want to know, we felt very safe and had no problems at all. Oh yeah, you can see Juan Gabriels house on the way to centro.
Tuesday morning we were in line at 4:00 a.m. We were 6th in line. Heres the kicker, at 6:30 when they started letting everyone in there were only about 50 people in line. One of the guards said that very few people had been scheduled that day (spouses still didn't get to go in). I guess everyone wanted to go home early for the holiday.
Husband said he was first asked for his appointment letter then told to go to building B. He waited for a little while and then was called to window 20. He said it was a very nice lady. She asked him where he had been for the last 14 months. He told her Veracruz. She asked him where I had been. He said Mississippi, but she has come to see me 4 times. She said really? Okay, your approved. She then asked for the two DS 156 forms and told him to go sit down and wait and they would call him when his passport and visa were ready.
He got back to the hotel room at 12:00 and he had a smile that reached from one ear to the other! Oh my gosh, it was such a good feeling.
Tuesday afternoon it took about 2 hours to cross the border. Carrying the yellow packet inside and having his passport stamped was easy.
Okay, guys use Alfredo (the best taxi driver in El Paso/Juarez). He stayed with us and told us what to expect at the bridge. He was wonderful.
Now onto the AOS. I guess we have about 3 weeks until the prices go up, so I've got to get busy!
As for as hotels, we ended up staying the first 3 nights at the Maripena. It was $50.00 a night, very clean, cute little swimming pool, but not very convenient. The other two nights we stayed at the Holiday Lincoln.
Thanks to all you guys who have helped me so much throughout everything. I hope this info helps someone out. I love you all and I'm still praying for each and everyone of you!!!!

Tammy/Torn visa pickup experience.
My husband said that the interview went fine. They just asked him if he remained in Mexico. They didnt ask for any evidence. He gave them an updated Avadavit of Support and the DS 230. He said that he showed proof at the medical exam of his shots that he had gotten after his 1st interview. The examiner stated that he did not need anymore shots. So he paid 160 for the physical exam only. He didnt have to pay any additional visa fees. So everything went well. Now we are waiting for the visa and ss card. ****Tammy*****

I've got an open appointment, and yes, I am Kit in the Juarez forum. I tried to answer you the other night, but my internet went out.
LOL, thank you, I figured it was you since the people in the pic are the same! Let me know when you figure out what day your pickup might be on! I know alot of people are going to be very curious to see how these pickups work and all!
Guero's open visa pickup experience.
One week to the day after we got our approval letter. Our open appointment letter came today. We had an email saying that it was sent out, and that was good enough.
We went to the the window at 6 am. They had us wait across the street. It was a waist of time to go early. They opened it up just before 8:00 They just took my wifes passport and the letter and gave everyone an appointment to come back at 3:00. It only took a few minutes. They appointment at 3:00 took about a half hour for her.
Then we went to the DHS office at the cordova bridge. It took about 2 hours for her to get the packet turned in, then we waited in line for an hour and a half to walk through. There was a lot of people getting their visas, and there were a lot of busses going through at that time.
We finally made it across and went to eat at Golden Corral. We are now back in Mexico to spend the night and pack up. I'm glad this nightmare is over. It has been exhausting.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
P.S. Most of the people I talked to had been there just under a year, and one person recognized us from our first appointment in December.

Yay!!! There's only 2 more people in front of us!!!

I only received confirmation via email that the letter was mailed last week...but you know how that goes, doesn't necessarily mean the author of the email knew what they were talking about (though I hope they do!).

The DS-230 on Dept. of State website expired July 2007. Does anyone have a current version? I understand from Ratito921's posting that this is one of the forms needed at the Visa Pickup Appt....I'm guessing that someone that has gone for their visa pickup recently may have the current version. Would hate to take an expired form and deal with further delays!
You should only have to bring new DS230 forms if it's been a year since your first interview. So far there are no newer forms than the ones that expired on July 31st.
