Yes, Chula at I met at the FAMOUS Holiday Inn Lincoln on the day of my hubby's appt. I was a nervous wreck! She also met my brother and my brother-in-law.
I also met Santacruzin recently. Hopefully she and I will be getting together again soon. It's so nice to have friends who understand you like no one else. And who LOVE to talk about DHS dates!!!!!

I have not met anyone....Only on here not in person. I am in Seattle, WA and I don't think many more people live in my area. I am also far from my interview so I can not determine when I will be in CDJ, but I can't wait to meet people when I do go.

We met Syd, Dina, Glu & MN_mommy in June 2006. We all met up at the famous Holiday Inn Lincoln as well. Although, Dina jetted outta there as soon as she could, but who could blame her? :)

Mi Corazon,
I will be in Utah in Aug and Dec. My family lives there and my husband and I always go home for the Holidays and my sister is having a baby in Aug. Where in Utah are you? My parents, 5 brothers and older sister are in Orem. My little sister is in Lehi.

I met 'wife' while I was in Boston, but it was very brief. I met - what's her handle?? - when we went to the Don Omar concert. We don't keep in touch. And I met 'pinkpig' while I was in LA and had a wonderful time. I feel like I keep in touch with pinkpig as she's addicted to the board and I see her posts all the time.

The first person I met was Spouse, who lived in Las Cruces near Juarez. Her and her hubby visited us a few times during the time we were in Juarez. I haven't heard from her since the end of her marriage. I met a young man who's name I can't remember, ADWILLI, Syd, MN_Mommy, someone who's handle was "redevil" or something similar, Ratito, Kennah, Tulip........I'm really really sorry if I'm leaving anyone out. Since I lived in Juarez for two years, I kind of became a voluntary shuttle to and from the airport whenever I could be one.
I loved meeting people in person after getting to know them online. It was interesting to see the person behind the posts. It's hard to judge what someone will be like in person from thier posts. For example, I thought Spouse would be a very reserved, serious person from her posts, but in person she was very outgoing. ADWILLI, though, was exactly as I had pictured her being. I would have loved to have met a couple with an American man and a Mexican women, but it seems as though we American women with our Mexican men are the majority.
Hubby and I enjoyed being around couples in our same situation. In a way we got kind of spoiled. We were an bi-cultural couple living on the border and interacting with other bi-cultural couples. We were pretty "normal." :-) Not such a "wierd" combination as we are in rural northern California.

Laurel - I laughed (at myself) when I read your post. I scanned it first - and read 'wife' - and was like - wow, I didnt know that about Laurel. ;) Then, being relatively new on the site - I started to recall seeing 'wife' around the old site some. And after seeing pinkpig's name there - I really realized you were talking about someone's screen name!!! :)
See what I get for being a quick reader.

Lucysprite - LOL!! No, trust me - I haven't started batting for the other team. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
Actually, I called my old boyfriend. I was half expecting him to be very smug when I called him. Instead, he almost cried. He apologized for his past mistakes - maybe a bit too much; it made me think I'd been too hard on him. So far so good since our reconciliation. But old habits die hard. We'll see.

Hey there! Awesome to see that somebody is kind of from around here. I currently live with my mom in a town called Mapleton which is outside of Provo...very close to Orem. When hubby gets back we will probably move back to Salt Lake City, but thinking of relocating. You should PM me when you are planning on coming up and we can do lunch or something! I would love to just sit and have a conversation with somebody that can truly relate.

I wish I could have participated in this forum longer to meet some of the other members, because it probably would have reduced the amount of visits my wife and I have had to make to Juarez over the last 2-1/2 years (the next one is in a week, and I get to bring my family home!). Most are just quick dashes through for me. And I already knew I was a minority on this forum - USC husband with a Mexicana wife.

More quick dashes. I plan on going through early Wednesday with my parents following behind (we will have a quinceañera for my eldest stepdaughter before we bring the family back) going further south. Hopefully by Sunday we will come back through.
Hopefully as well my BIL will be able to travel with us to be a *more fluent* Spanish speaker, but we will get by either way I think. GPS in each vehicle, radio communication, extra gas, jumper cables, etc.. Getting my father used to how narrow the Mexican freeways are with no shoulders...

Pinkpig - oh, yes, I plan on meeting up the next time I blow through L.A. Don't have dates for that yet, though.
As for people meeting, I should also note that many people have hired me after coming accross this board, though I don't get to meet most of them in person.
And some of my clients have bumped into each other while waiting in line at the consulates in Juarez and Rio.

Laurel is just a bundle of energy and is very enthusiastic about immigration and has a genuine concern for all of us and our families.
She enjoys Blackstones' Merlot and Italian food. :D Other questions please.

You forgot opinionated and maybe just a bit insane (you'd have to be nuts to start your own practice immediately upon being licensed, and do it online, and jump head-first into foreign-filed waivers, an area where there was little information or guidance available).
Oh, and yes, I enjoyed the Merlot just a bit too much as the AILA conference, getting way more drunk than I planned to. Fortunately, that's not something that happens often.

When I wrote that I wondered how long it would take for you to see it and how you would reply. :D I think I like your reply.
I put some feelers out at CSULB today about your documentary. Let me know when/if you are serious about having it shown.
I think I will be hanging out there way too much in the coming year. I have until Oct 28, 2008 to defend my thesis. I have been putting if off way too long. Any longer and I have to recertify my courses. I guess I just need to do it. You never know when I might want to work. YUK!
We can't wait to see you again. Dinner? :)
