Hi I'm chacha. I was married to my husband who is EWI May 7, 2007. We know all about the waiver process. I have great information due to my diligence with research and going to many, many lawyers. My husband is from Brazil and he thinks going through with the waiver is too risky. I don't see any legislation on the horizon at the federal level that will help us. I suppose if we wait 5 more years he will be here 10 years and maybe then he can get his green card? But, that's a long time from now. I'm wondering if anyone has a waiver story from Brazil either successful or not successful. And I'm also wondering if American spouses can try to band together to get the LIFE Act
(245i) back again?

Looking for Brazil stories and thoughts on bringing back the LIFE Act. Thanks!

Here is a list of people who filed through Brazil. You can find the entire list of all members of I2US through all countries here:

Welcome Chacha!

I'm confused as to why you think if he stayed here for 10 years he would be eligible for a green card. That's not really how it works, unless you go for Cancellation of Removal, but frankly, that's a lot more difficult than the waiver process.

There are a number of people here who have gone through Rio, as Pinkpig listed above. Anyway, I hope you find helpful information here and can make an informed decision.

The bar doesn't start until he leaves the country.

I hope that you find what you are looking for.

Good Luck!

Thank you for all of this information. We are really at a point of decision right now. A tough decision as you know. I'm trying to see who received waivers and the conditions behind their waivers. Thank goodness I found this site. Thanks again.

Chacha- I'm confused- without legislation changing, how to you plan to legalize without filing a waiver?
