Hi.. my name is Brittany.. my husband's name is Luis.. we live in Los Angeles..
I'm 20 he's 21.. We met online back when we were kids and been together ever since.. we were about 3/4 years long distance and are hoping we will never have to do that again !! I came from Houston, Texas to Los Angeles to be with him back in 2004.. I love it here but still don't have family or many friends out here.. without a car or money it's had to maintain friendships.. or meet people.. maybe this would help with a waiver??? Without him I would be 100% isolated.. except for his family =/

Well.. We are currently fighting, hoping, and praying for the DREAM ACT.. We should know by next week.. but it doesn't look good.. there is so much hate.. thousands of people are calling senators in opposition to the Dream Act.. and we are very scared.. I need a backup.. which is the waiver plan I guess *sigh*

My husband was born in D.F .. and came to the U.S. when he was barely 2 or 3 years old.. He doesn't really understand this whole thing.. and it's barely starting to sink into us what we will have to go through to live a normal life.. The thing he wants to do the most is DRIVE.. he cries.. it's so painful to see..

With the Dream Act we thought we were almost to the end of the road.. but now it seems as if we are starting all over again.. and back at square one with no options..

We love our life and we love Los Angeles.. but we can no longer live like this.. and we don't know what to do .. it feels like such simple things - drivers license, work permit, travel.. that's it ! But it is so hard or impossible to obtain..

I'm hoping I can find support on here too.. I'm a huge active member over at www.dreamact.info .. but here I know I will find other spouses..

Brittany - you do have options!

There is a ton of information on this site, and it sounds like Luis would qualify for the waiver and the pilot program in CDJ, meaning it might take a while, it's possible he would only be out of the U.S for about a week, and return with his permanent residency! You can read the post under the "Need help" link in my signature for a basic outline.

For the hundreds of thousands of young immigrants who are not "lucky" enough to be in a relationship with a USC, I hope for the passage of the DREAM Act soon!
