Anyone have plates on the wall? If so, how did you put them there? I want something discreet yet solid where the plate won't fall and break.

I got it done!! YAY

The one on the right is too small, I need to get the bigger size (accidently got the smaller one) but I wanted it on the wall NOW.

The curtains are missing, they are washing :D

Yeah now no jokes about how hokey the plates look. They are traditional plates from where I'm from :P

No one listens to those people. I wave them away with my hand and say "bah".

Yeah I like those plates a lot. They bring back a lot of memories. Most of the restaurants have them. We had some for "company". I want to get more than just 2 to be honest. If I could have, I would have brought home an entire set to eat on.

I swear, this is really weird, but I was reading an article about this very thing we are talking about right now. Not a very common subject, either. Hang on, I'll get you the article.

Like I said it looks very elegant! My boss has plates all over the kitchen and dining room. If someone would have said hey I have plates on my wall I'd assume this meant clutter and I hate clutter. But when you see the results it just looks so great!

hmmm..... its all about taste.

but just so u know its always a NO NO (to pro interior designers -me-) to hang anything over a doorframe or an entryway or anything like it.

and always hang an odd number next to eachother.

Bah, I like it there. I'll let Martha Stewart gasp at my faux-pas then but I don't have any walls in my kitchen to hang things on so it's going to stay there. I always hang things in the door ways, ever since I lived in japan and we had these door way cloth things. (can't think of the name right now).

I don't follow the "rules" :D

Marie,
The magazine that had that article is the August 2008 Country Living Magazine (which is surprisingly not as hokey as it once was) My grandmother gave me a copy if it and I was rather impressed. The article is about a decor shop called Comptoir de Famille in Mass. Here's is their website.

It's a refreshing step away from the mixed florals and over-elaborate furniture and general clutter that usually gets called French decor here in the US.

"Hokey" is the word of the day today!

It's a good word :)

Maybe I should make a living writing in the "french" style on things for people so they can think they have something "charming" in their house :D

wow, I looked at their catalog some, I love their stuff. Should I be worried that there are no prices? lol

edit:
ooo i found the US version with prices...yikes! Liked it better without the prices :D

oooo i like those pitchers.

I think you should, Marie! Actually, I would have to listen to you since you are the only French person that I know. I need more French diversity in my life!

Yeah, ususally if there is no prices listed, you prolly don't want to know...cuz if you have to ask, you can't afford it. I could go to France cheaper than shop in that place.

I don't have a French accent so you'd be sorely disappointed.

We went to a small village for my plates because in the big city they were twice as much. So touristy.

Although having things from home makes me less homesick for sure.
