during removal proceedings


Our timeline

9/94: Mr. Brovig enters on B2 from Morocco
8/03: We meet in Washington D.C., start dating
6/05: Month of big changes: I'm offered a job in Texas, tell family Mr. Brovig and I are pondering marriage ... Family has meltdown
7/05: Thanks to the drama, Mr. Brovig and I, sadly, decide to separate for a while when I move to Texas
1/06: On a visit from D.C. to see me in Texas, Mr. Brovig is picked up by ICE, thrown into detention in El Paso and placed in removal proceedings
3/06: Mr. Brovig is released from detention on $5k bond with plans to file for political asylum; he refuses to stay in horrible Texas and moves to Boston to live with his sister, hiring the same attorneys she used during her naturalization
3/07: Mr. Brovig's first hearing with immigration judge in Boston; IJ continues case for a year so he can gather evidence for his asylum claim
8/07: We finally get married in Texas
10/07: We file I-130 through Boston lawyers
10/07: I-130 received at VSC
1/08: NOA1 mailed to us
3/08: Mr. Brovig's master calendar hearing in removal proceedings, at immigration court in Boston; judge continues case until October while I-130 is pending
6/08: After 8 months at VSC, I-130 finally sent to Houston field office for further review
6/08 & 7/08 & 8/08: Successive InfoPass appointments where we persistently inquire about our case, its status, and when our I-130 interview will be held
9/16/08: I-130 interview scheduled
10/7/08: Master calendar hearing in removal proceedings (rescheduled from 3/08)
