I'm not sure exactly which board to post this in but does anyone here have any experience bringing in your local congressman to check status on your case??

It's very easy. Go to their website, if you don't know yours you can go to
www.house.gov or www.senate.gov (if you'd rather work with a Senator) and search for your rep. On your rep's website he/she'll have a constituent services request form. You will need to fill this out and fax it to the number listed.
Before you fax it, call and speak to the Immigration liaison. If he/she is inaccessible or doesn't sound helpful, move on to the next rep. . .you have three to choose from, so hopefully one of them will be helpful.

Thanks!
Do you happen to know how long it takes Senators or Reps to "get some answers" once they're contacted?
Is it something they can do within a few weeks or something that'll drag on for months and months?

good luck. when I filed an appeal..and contacted my congressman..I really never got a response..then someone called to say, we got it..we are working on it..I then wrote a letter with the attached from they ask you to complete..and what is your concern..or what kind of help you need..situation..stuff like that..well months after we were approve..I got a called..stating..they are still working on it..HELLO..we got approved..she was happy. At first they did help, because this congressman went to school with my dad..and in the letter I mention who my father was..NOPE..I did it all myself..withdrew the appeal..got a second chance and got approved...good luck...
