Waiver Question: Plz help

Hi Everyone,
Does the consulate send you any acknowledgement once you sent them your waiver package. If yes usually when they send it & if one wanna know the status of his waiver application how can he check it. I'll appreciate if someone will let me know

From what I gather, each consulate & DHS adjudicating office is different. Which consulate will you be filing in?

I filed in Montreal consulate

In Montreal, we got a receipt for the payment of the fees for the waiver. It took several months before it was transfered to VSC though. Unfortunately, when we filed, they had just changed the location of where the waiver were processed. Once at VSC, we got approved within a few months

Do they give you any receipt number or file number to check status online. When I went to USCIS website they asked me receipt number

They'll send you a notice of action which will have the receipt number. You can use that number to check status online. In our case, the status never changed until after we received our approval notice.

Thanks sluberry for prompt reply. I'll keep my figer cross for that receipt (atleast). Its been nine months that I went for interview & still my waiver process hasn't started
