I read the entire thing in less than 36 hours! (Major hibernation over the weekend after an extremely stressful work week). I thought it was just as great as the first 3 in the series and actually a great ending. I just started "The Host".

OMG REALLY??? I'm not sure I agree...
I finished it in about 3 days. It was ok. Not great, but I was disappointed somewhat by how things turned out. Like the characters took a completely different turn from what they were in the first 3 books. I have mixed emotions about this book.
For example, the whole "making love" episode and Edward giving Bella bruises was a BIG no no for me. it almost sounded like rape. Anyhow, it was too weird. Yes it is a vampire book, but it was still too weird. I was on edge with the whole Volturi thing...but in the end things ended too abruptly. I did like the actual ending with them sharing their love because you could see their initial characters come back. Their obsession with each other was what drew me to the series in the first place. I think BD lost that obsession completely except for the last few paragraphs.
Just my opinion :)

Interesting....there were some weird parts, but nothing too dark like some of the earlier books. Definitely some twists and turns that we unexpected and a bit forced (ie the imprinting part), but when I finished I was satisfied....BUT I am not much of a critic, so.....

yeah the imprinting part was too hilarious.. I was like really? c'mon???
Anyhow, I shouldn't say anything else because I know Angela hasn't read it yet. I don't want to spoil things for the ones who haven't had a chance to read it.
did you buy the book or cheat like me and read it online?

I read it!
1. The love scene. I understand where auntlily is coming from on this, but also I understood where the writer was coming from. In the first three books you learn that Edward strength is much more than Bella could handle. She would be a little bruised from touching so roughly and Edward couldn't control it all that well.
2. Jacob's Imprint. I predicted this before it even happened. I thought it was sooooo funny and how Bella reacted. LOL, but it was a little weird to have him so obsessed with Bella and then love her daughter.
3. The hunting....I think we could have done with out the baby hunting. The pictures I got from that were so bad.
4. Reneesme - I love the writers idea in her. How she grew and communicated. Her gift was a great way to keep her in tune with the book.
5. The fight - The author said she had to end it like that. There was no way that the Cullens would make it out of a fight with the Vulturi with all of the family. She was not ready to lose one of them or any from the many covens that helped them. Neither was I. I wished they would have destroyed the Vulturi, but oh well. Maybe in a future book.
MIDNIGHT SUN - Now. I am very disappointed. Who ever leaked the book to the public was wrong. I am so angry at that person. Once the author posted the leaked pages for all to read I had to. I loved it so much and think it would make a great companion to the first book and now it will never be finished. Ugh!
Ok. So I liked Breaking Dawn it just seemed like she may have brought to much of the sci-fi of The Host into the story and maybe should have waited to write the host until she was finished with teh Twilight series. Overall though I think Stephenie Meyer is a great writer and I look forward to what she has to offer in the future.
