Hello everyone!
I haven't been here in a while...the site looks great!
Well, my question relates to a request for an extension...
My grandmother is here visiting us...she has come 6 times, stayed for 4-6 months each time, but always left before the date she was given when she came in.
This time though she came because I had a baby...and she and us would like her to stay a bit more because of my daughter. Not only it would be great to have her around, and good for her to see her great granddaughter grow up a bit more, it would also be a great help to us to have her here.
Her current expiration is November 17, 2008. We are planning to go visit relatives in her country in April of 2009, and we would like her to stay until then so she can go back with us.
So we would be requesting an extension until then...so I wanted to ask if anyone has tips on the application itself (what we should submit, when,etc.).
In addition, and most importantly, what happens to her status if they don't respond before her current date of 11/2008? Also, if we apply and they deny it, will she be able to stay until her Nov date? If they deny and the Nov date has passed, how long does she have to go back and will she be considered out of status at that point? (We just don't want to compromise her ability to come back here in the future).
I would appreciate any comments!
