Hi, please can you help?
My husbands i601 was apparently completed on Friday. I emailed them and received a response today which read:
"A letter has been posted to the applicant. Please look to receive this letter this week. Additional information cannot be released at this time."
Why do they have to be so cryptic??? I have read some of the threads here and some people get written notification, others get phone call. I just want to know if the waiver was approved and our immigrant visa's issued.
Can anyone shed any light on what the above may mean???
Thanks so much in advance!!
Edit:
The embassy website reads:
"If the waiver is approved, USCIS sends that approval notification to the appropriate Embassy for issuance of the immigrant visa. If the waiver is denied, the applicant will be notified in writing of that decision and the immigrant visa will not be issued. "
So, does that mean that if our waiver was approved, we would have been contacted to get the immigrant visa issued? IS this bad news? HELP.arg

"Completed?" What does that mean? When did you file the waiver? Communication is notoriously bad at almost all consulates....

My lawyer received a letter before my huband did that our I601 was approved.. There is a visa cust svc line that either you or he can call and they might give you more information...however the call must be placed from within the UK. We received the writtin notifcation in about 10 days after the post on their website with instructions on mailing the passport to get the visa. Good luck...

Hi Laura, the waiver application is completed - its a request to have a 212 charge lifted so completed doesn't tell me if approved or declined...
Irishmo89: Thanks for your info. I called the US embassy London on the number listed on their website but they say they cannot give me any information over the phone and I have to wait for the letter. So stupid, why can't they just tell me over the phone. If you know of a number can you let me know?
Thanks

Call the DOS line, just to see if they know . . .if they don't tell you, then you'll just have to wait for the letter.

Good luck to you and hopefully you'll get great news soon. It is at every embassy so hard to find out about your waiver and get any information. Patience is the key at this point. How long did you have your waiver in there? Keep us posted !

Hi All,
AMAZING news (sorry for shouting but this calls for some enthuasiasm).. we received the letter today and the waiver has been granted!!!!!!
My husband is thrilled - he has had this issue since 1998 and now our green cards should follow soon - we have not heard from the state dep asking to send our passports but we've emailed them and sure its just an admin hold up..
Our situation seems somewhat different from most of the other conversations Ive read - my husband never did anything wrong, he was turned away at border because they accused him of having too much money and student info - which is allowed! - they gave him the option of voluntarily withdrawing his visa or being deported back to ZA - he chose the former option but when he got back there, they told him he'd been deported for 5 years. Since then, he was issued a B1/B2 from London embassy (we now live in UK) but when we flew into US (to visit his mother) they denied him entry and cited the 212 charge - he had never previously been told of this and of course had never been found guilty of anything. He has since been issued with one-time waivers for holidays so we never really thought there would be a problem but one never knows with these guys.
Ive told you this whole story because the above is most likely why the processed ours in quite quite time. 2 months all in all. They were sent our docs on 18th June but only sent us the "post card" stating they are "received" as of 19th July so 3.5 weeks for processing - ours went straihg from pending to complete so I think they literally just looked at it. Our entire hardshiip statements comprised of 4 pages, which seems quite unusual..
Anyhoo, hope this helps. Keep your chins up people. OH and use positive visualisation to manifest what you want. We stuck post-its up in our bathroom with key words to feel a good feeling EVERY morning about this. We put it out there with teh intention that everything would be sorted by 15th August and there you have it, actually 3 days early!!! Positive thinking does work!!!!
Good luck,

Yeah, in a case like that, he should have only been asked to file an I-212 for the expedited removal, not the I-601, so they probably did, "just look at it."
I'm sorry you had to go through it at all!
Congratulations!
