Mines doing pretty good except my corn is so darn small this year. Who ever mentioned blood meal that was a great idea because my garden is nice and green this year. Laura I took up your container gardening idea with the basil. I have some in the ground and then one big pot full of it on the porch. The one in the ground was getting eaten up for the longest time, but now seems to be better.

This year I decided to do fennel, and it's grown weird. i need to post a pic to fully explain it but its growing side ways lol instead of upwright make sense? I wish I would of planted lettuce. I think I still could though if I wanted.

For those who do organic gardening. I found an insect spray that is organic and it actually works quite well. It's the first time i've not had to struggle with aphids, white fly, meally bugs, and seams to be working on slugs! It's called VeggiePharm and the one I got is garlic and pepperment oil. I got it at fred meyers for I think $12.99 on sale. Warning IT STINKS!

Thanks for the update. I need to post new pics. I am starting to eat my own tomatoes and I have a lot of them... other than some bug problems (I don't use pesticides but what you are using might be a good alternative) things are going great!

nice to get your updates..we aren't using pesticides either..man I have seen so weird looking bugs.. ones I have never seen before!
We had a lot of peas this time around..I have shucked all of them and had to freeze most of them..I made a soup last night with them.. and using some of our leeks too, it was pretty yummy..(it's a recipe from Ina Garten aka Barefoot Contessa) if you guys want the recipe let me know..like I said it was really good..and easy to make!

I have a TON of tomatoes..still green though..our carrots, bell peppers, green beans and every kind of chili you can think! of are all doing really well this year.We have a lot of romaine lettuce and cucumbers too<---so yummy with lime and chili!..that has been my lunch the last few weeks!:D
our corn is small this year too..
I am having fun with the garden..definetly saving on veggies at the grocery store this year.
Emily I am going to check out veggiepharm..I have been seeing a lot of slugs!:sick3:

Laura, just a bit of regular dish soap in water sprayed on most insects will help...

Hey, Jackie and Suzaane, the two women I live with, have a beautiful veggie garden, so I been living the good life with fresh Jersey veggies! It's great. We had ratatouie (sp) the other day with all fresh garden veggies, and last night we had a feast: fresh cucumber salad, fried tomatoes, green beans, corn on the cob... We bought the corn at a farm stand, but everything else from our garden. So awesome!
The tomatoes are amazing. We have been harvesting them for a couple weeks already. In NY they would just be starting to get ready now! I'm such a dork, but living in a zone 6 is amazing!
