Hello all. Things are coming along with our AOS but I just received a RFIE which asked to send a copy of the petitioners birth certificate. I found this strange as I sent a copy with the original application. I talked to the USCIS about it and also my attorney and they both said that it's not uncommon for them to request something we already sent them. I was just wondering if anybody had run across this before?

Another question related to the previous one. What happens after I send the RFIE back with the requested evidence? Do they send a letter saying that they received the information and it will suffice?

Lastly, as for the interview, what would be good evidence showing us connected? Bank accounts? pictures? I want to make sure we get everything in place.

Thanks in advance!!!!

USCIS will often issue RFE's for documents that were initially included. Its not hard to believe that they'd lose something, eh?

If I recall correctly, folks at my other boards who have replied to RFEs saw their status updated online - something to the effect of 'processing resuming' (once USCIS had received the requested information). I don't believe you will get an actual letter.

Bank accounts are good - anything showing joint assets (car loans, credit cards, mortgages or deeds) or something like health and life insurance (where the non USC is the beneficiary), utility bills, etc.

Photos are good to have, too, but I don't think they are considered as primary evidence of 'comingling' of assets.

FYI: also make sure the birth certificate you send is the long version. there has been discussion on here about short and long birth certificates. make sure that the one that you send has complete information about the parents as well. not all places have long and short ones. so disregard this if yours has extensive information on it.

The birth certificate was not the very original one but it has my legal name, my parents name's, time and date of birth and the hospital (which is a naval military hospital). I imagine that it should work?
