Hey my friends have a question here...
If my grandson's passport comes before Cristian and I go for our visit to Mexico we want to take our grandson so he can see his dad (he hasn't seen him in like 5 years) I plan to get a notorized letter from my daughter saying that it is ok for us to take him there..do you think that will be good enough?

The notorized letter needs to be signed by both parents. A lady at my work takes her grandkids to Mexico every year and she gets both parents' signatures.

Sandy, I don’t know when you were planning to take your grandson to México, but if it is before September 30, 2007, all you have to have is proof that you have applied for his passport.
Here is a link from the U.S. Department of State’s website that tells all about it:
http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html
Here is part of what it says:
The U.S. Departments of State and Homeland Security announced Friday, June 8, that U.S. citizens traveling to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or countries in the Caribbean region, who have applied for, but not yet received passports, can re-enter the United States by air.
It also says:
U.S. citizens traveling to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or countries in the Caribbean region who have applied for, but not yet received passports, can re-enter the United States by air by presentation of a government issued photo identification and Department of State official proof of application for a passport through September 30, 2007.
I think you should also get a notarized letter from your grandson’s father!

My grandson's father is in Mexico..he was deported 5 years ago. We were planning on taking my grandson so that he could see a little of his culture..of course we are planning to take him to his dad's house while we are there so that he can see him and meet his other grandmother. My daughter has sole custody..that was granted in her divorce..should I take a copy of her divorce papers?

I would take a copy of the divorce papers, notorized letter from your daughter, of course the passport and birth certificate, just to be on the safe side....
How exciting for your Grandson!:bounce:

Hello...
You will need the letter where the court gave your daughter sole custody and the notarized letter from her. Best of Luck...
