Just got an apologetic letter from Montreal Consulate. The told me they had not completed their "administrative work" on my case and that they would "notify me when it was complete" so that I could file the I-212.

They also said that I HAD to file the I-212 with them and they would forward it to "INS."

What do they mean by "administrative work" they have had a piece of supplemental evidence for two months and haven't sent me a reply yet! Are they talking about their filing of forms or ANOTHER security check?

I spoke to Laurel in the chat last week and she advised me to file the I-212 with the local office, because consulates don't take the 212 alone and that is all I have to file. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Has your case been put on Administrative Review?

I know you are frustrated, they are not an easy consulate to get answers from. Have you asked your state senator to find out what is going on?

I have asked, but they seem to have hit a brick wall.

I was wondering the same thing, but they keep saying "administrative work" not review. I thought they would have specifically said, review if it was a security check. I wrote them an email asking and they would only repeat "administrative work" and apologized for the length of time.

I am so frustrated, I don't know what to do.

Laurel was right its better to apply diectly at the district office thats what consulates does anyway meanwhile this administrative process will go on. normally in immigrant visa case consulate will not accept but advise you to apply direct ..some may take.

I assume they are looking for your whole immigration record which wont take that long be patient.

Only...it's been seven months since the interview, they've been waiting on supplemental evidence and had plenty of time for their checks, even if they were doing an administrative review, plus I submitted the actual documentation of the removal signatures and all.

Spoke to an attorney today who said that "Administrative Work" is different that "Administrative Review"

He says this just means they are being slow as per norm for immigration. He chided me for thinking 2 1/2 months was a long time for supplemental evidence....

My Senator has just let me know that my Administrative processing is relating to my husband's divorce certificate obtained from Pakistan. We are four months and counting.

Anybody have any ideas on time frame or ideas for making this as painless as possible.

I am grasping at straws...I already submitted the 212, so at least they are "cooking" at the same time.

Well there you go...Jesuslovesyou was right. They are making sure that everything in your file is up to snuff...so to speak....

The good news is that your senator is involved and working with you. Yes, everything is cooking and we all know that they cook on low for as long as they decide to.

I wish you the best. It sounds like you are doing everything that you can and have covered all the bases.

I know how hard waiting and not knowing is. Hugs.

At least it was something that *should* be simple to deal with. Hoepfully, you will get an answer quickly. As you know, Montreal and VSC do not always work as quickly as one would hope. Make sure you keep on top of things with your senator.

Senator told me to wait at least six weeks, then recontact for another inquiry.

Thank you both for your calming words.
