So, since moving back to the US, my husband and I have befriended an older guy from Mexico who is planning to apply for his citizenship soon. He's been a permanent resident since the 80's. He just told us that when he first moved to the US, he was living in Denver. He's been in Indiana now for years, but never filed his change of address with immigration. Should he just do it now and then proceed with his citizenship application, or will they give him trouble about this? I know it says you're supposed to change your address within ten days of moving........but what happens if you don't?

I don't think it will be a big deal. But I would change it before sending in his application for citizenship.

I changed my address when i moved into my house but always used my inlaws as the permanent address but i never got anything saying that they received it or acknowledged it. I think he'll be fine.

he'll be fine. my family never knew we had to update our addresses and when we naturalized, they didn't ask us anything about this.
