I know I never post here, but I should.

Mr. Adriane and I have 2 cats (Atticus and Uziel) and a chocolate lab (Biru.) They are our lives, our loves, our children.

Anyway, Uziel (who I have had since 1995) has been on dialysis for his kidney failure for a year and today had another crash. It's amazing- yesterday he was doing so great and then all of a sudden I found him and it was not so good....

He's at the vet hospital for the next 3 days and then we'll see if he can come home. So please, think good thoughts for him, we could use them.

OH, adriane i hope your kitty is ok and can come back home. My cat is my child (our child) too, i cant imagine what you feel like, i would be devistated. Sending your cat good vibes :blush:

how old is he? how did you find out he needed dialysis?

Thanks guys. He's 13- I'm looking for a photo, but my computer crashed and I need to pull them from the HD....

Last summer he had a crash and was diagnosed with kidney failure (pretty common in cats, sadly.) We've been doing sub-cutaneous dialysis at home for about a year, but even with our efforts, eventually, we won't be able to keep up with the kidney loss...
But up until yesterday, he was doing great- it was amazing really. That's why today came as such a shock...

I just hope it's not now, though. The doc said we could get anywhere from 3 months to 7 years on the dialysis (it's been 11 months) so I'm hoping for more...

It's just so sad, I've basically had him with me since I moved out of my parents house and went to college- he's sort of like my roommate of 13 years!

oh, I know what you mean. My cat was my friend for 10 years of my life!! I hope he does better and can spend some more time with you. I would give anything for one more day with kitty:blush:

Thanks for all you thoughts- Uziel passed today.

It was as peaceful as death can be, I guess. Mr. Adriane was there with me, and we held him as it happened.

We buried him by the Rio Grande- and sat and talked and cried about Uziel and pets gone-by.

It hurts. A lot. But we were ready, in a way, and at peace with it.

Uziel was my constant companion for my entire adult life. He saw good, he saw bad, he saw ups and downs and all sorts of things in between. I'll never replace him.

Oh Adriane. I'm so sorry. I remember how my husband and I spent a sleepless night recently when our puppy was sick. I can't imagine losing a pet. I'm glad you will have such good memories of Uziel.
