My son-in-law's appointment is tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. He has to be there at 7:15 (no later). We are going to attempt an expedite and try to hand it in at the same time that we hand in the waiver package.
Good luck please!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh you bet I will. I will try to post as much details as possible as we go along to help others because there is basically nothing on Guatemala much.
For instance, he was at the medical appointment and a majority of the people there knew that they had to hand in the waivers and they had their waivers ready. However, they were all basically under the impression that they would go to the interview, hand in their waiver and get their visa approved the same day.
He tried to tell them that this isn't the way it works. It is sad that so many people go off not even realizing that this is not a one-day trip and that they are totally unprepared for waiting perhaps 6 months for an answer.

Were you able to file your waiver the same day as your VISA Denial? I had to go back the following week and file it on the next business day for the embassy.

actually some people turned it in the same day! I remember what you said before but I guess now you can turn it in with it.

For those of you who do not realize it, Guatemala does not have the pilot waiver program. Therefore, no answer -- we are looking at a minimum of 6 months to find out whether his waiver is approved or not. As you read earlier, we are trying for an expedite. However, even these are not immediately approved. We are still in waiting mode. As far as the interview, everything was great. There is another thread where I went into more detail.
Here is the thread if you want to read more.
