I used to go on this site as PeruvianDavid. I stopped visiting the page because I had given up for while, My relationship with my loved one in the states was really bad we were gonna get a divorce and what not... finally we realized it would be best for us to stay strong because we have a baby together.
Here's a little about my case. If you have any opinions and suggestions or questions feel free to post them here.
timeline:
1993 - entered the u.s. at age 10 as a tourist with my mother from Peru
1995 - mother married U.S. citizen for papers (bad choice)
1997 - obtained "conditional status" from mother's case.
2001 - after many delays, problems with the case and what not, went to see an immigration judge and the immigration judge granted voluntary departure. The family overstayed except my sister.
March 2002 - Met Lindsay, fell in love 3 months later
March - 2005 Bella was conceived
April - 2005 arrested by ICE at bus station, locked up at Krome det. center deported in August
October 2005 - Our Baby Izabella was born in Florida.
May 12 2006 - Married in Lima Peru.
Oct 2006 - filed I-130
Nov. 2006 - Received I-130 at california service center.
June 2007 - I-130 Approved
July 2007 - Received Choice of agent form
August 2007 - Lindsay received I-864 Affidavit of support.
September 2007 - Mailed I-864 Affidavit of support
Does anyone know how long it takes to get an interview after sending the I-864.
oh and the mail seems to have lost my choice of agent form, so I got a letter saying I can tell them by e-mail. Does anyone know how effective the e-mail is for the NVC??
Well I'm waiting for my interview which I know will probably be denied and I'll have to file a waiver... how long are waivers taking in Lima???? does anyone have an idea??
well that's enough about me
thanks guys.
ciao

David-
You might want to consider filing the I-129f for a spouse- it might result in a faster interview.
I'm glad you two decided to stick together- good luck.

welcome back! I'm sorry I don't know how long the process in Lima is taking, but there is a spreadsheet floating around here with timelines on it.
I agree with Adriane, I would consider the I-129f to speed it up.
Good luck!

Hello Ladies thanks for the welcome,
wow I see some of you are done with your case and some of you are almost done... wow I'm glad for you guys...
yea I looked into filing the I-129f and perhaps it would get me an interview a bit faster, but it's a non-immigrant visa, meaning it would be more paperwork when I got in the country just to be able to work... I prefer to just wait longer and get it over with while I'm out of the country... does that lady Laurel Scott still do weekly chats????

David-
I really think you ought to file the I-129f. The difference in time could be as much as a year. Yes, there are expenses to pay when you get back (about $1000) but in a year, you'd make ALOT more than that. And while you're home & waiting for your EAD, you can stay home with your new baby, and save on daycare costs.
Really, the time you're missing out on with your daughter you will never, ever get back. I'd make it as short as possible.
Good luck.

Welcome back to I2US. To answer your question, Yes ... Laurel Scott still offers weekly chats - every wednesday - at 11:00 am CST. Her website is www.visacentral.ne.
Best of luck to you and your family - either way you proceed!!

Adriane, thanks for the advice but I have a gameplan and I don't wanna deviate from it. My point of view now is just leave it to god (new found faith haha). I mean the way I look at it now is that I could do everything possible and it could still end up taking very long (i.e. waiver denied). I mean it does suck that I will spend time away from my daughter but it's not that bad... My cousin just met her father at age 16... I just try not to think about it or it'll consume me (it's gotten bad before) lol I'm like numb .... In the meantime I just concentrate on work (I have a great job) so that when I get back to the states I can provide everything my daughter and wife need... a BMW lol bare essentials
I have question though.... the N.V.C. sent me a letter saying they never got my choice of agent form... so I sent them an email... does anyone know how responsive they are with e-mail?? should I just mail another choice of agent form???

Hi There,
Good luck!! I remember you of course.
I have been told that waivers are taking about 4 months in Lima, ours has been gone about 4 months so much better than it used to be, but I guess still not great.

For missingbella. I read into your case and it says that you were detained. Was that because of a crime or just routine pick up? Also how long did they keep you in the detention center(it looks some 4 months) and what was the reason for the custody?
I would really appreciate your answer

The last date that David posted was 9/11. Maybe you could also PM or email him with your Qs? This new site gives another Member the ability to actually email another Member.
