question for a friend

I dont know if this is the right place to put this, but its the closest place i can find. My friend is dating a guy here from mexico. His father has an employment visa, but he got laid off from his job. I guess they have been here for like 10 years on a visa. The family has to go home, but the son just graduated high school and wants to stay here. is there any way for him to adjust his status and become a per. res.? or can he get a student visa? he has a legal visa through his father.

Your friend should look into applying to a university in the US. Generally the school will help them get the appropriate visa to study like an F. The more education your friend obtains, the better his chances of eventually obtaining residency or a work visa in the US.
