Hi :wave: I know you have the list for those filing through LIMA. It's just so many its hard to read (for me). I was wondering if we can break it down in a seperate thread just to get how long it's taking from turning in the waiver, to recieving the decision (denial/approval).
Am I making any sense ?! :blush:

Minha entrevista do waiver no rio foi dia 16/05/2007 duas semanas depois enviei o pacote para lima.

my first interview is on the 30th this month. and I don't have a waiver ready yet!!! they mailed out the interview letter on july 24th and I still haven't gotten it... maybe something wrong with the mail system here in Peru is very bad in some areas.

anyway I'm glad I called the embassy and they told me my interview was on the 30th this month and wowww... I don't have a waiver!! I'm totally nervous and freaking out. I should've done it before but I got too involved with my work and my studies...

I am not trying to be rude or condescending or anything, but this waiver thing is not a joke and it is not something you take for granted. It is far more a priority than your work and studies should be. I have no idea why you haven't contacted an attorney to do the waiver for you. Please be smart and find an attorney for you case and get your waiver ready. I started the process with an attorney even before I married my wife. Lima is a very difficult place to get approved and a lot of people think they can read the internet and figure out how to make a case, but its not that easy.

What do you want me to say, "Good Luck Hee Hee Haw Haw" when obviously she is committing an error. Obviously she doesn't understand the gravity of the situation if she is not preparing for her waiver. I think the stakes are way too high in this situation not to be bluntly honest with somebody. There are a lot of people who just think this process is some sort of formality and they end up with the ten year ban or separated for years instead of months until they go back and do the process right (have known people personally that this has happened to.) All of her studying and working will go to waste if her waiver is not approved. :shy:

Missingbella - You need to prepare your waiver ASAP! A waiver is a very complicated thing and Lima is taking now 6+months to give you an answer, so you dont want to waste 6 + months to get it denaid. If you only have a month, maybe you should reschedule your appointment and prepare yourself better (this is just my advice) and if you can afford a lawyer, go for it!

the problem with that is that the process is so stop and go and is slow enough as it is. every month or so that you have with this situation hanging over your head is just one more month of agony. it doesn't get any easier as the time goes on. :shy:
I didn't know that the consulates mess with your packet. that is terrible. I am glad that the consulate was in Lima where my wife is from.

If you aren't prepared with your waiver, call the consulate and reschedule your appointment. Lima isn't an easy office to get an approval. Take your time and do it right the first time. It takes a lot of time to put together a good hardship package. You need to document your hardships well and provide supporting evidence.

Does it really take that long just to see that we sent in the (2) documents they were asking for and probably already had? And after they review it all again and sent it to Brasil how do I get on the list is it after the first interview or before? I'm sorry for so many questions but all this stuff drives me completly crazy! Thank you!!

Usually NVC doesn't take that long, but I don't want to get your hopes up either :blush:
Once they have all your stuff, and it's all correct, you're case should be Completed in like a week or so. Have you been calling their number ? That's the easiest way to check your progress with NVC.
After you are done w/ NVC they send it over to the Consult, in your case Brazil, and they set up the interview, usually it takes 1-2 months to get that (I think). I got my interview date by calling the NVC as well, I recommend this because if you wait for the official letter, it's way too late. The letter takes forever to arrive for some reason :dunno:

Once we turned in our missing piece of evidence things went very fast.

I think they will probably complete your case much sooner.

They often are not really missing the things they think are missing. They also did this to Laurel's office with a document that was sent. When Laurel's office pointed it out to them, they completed the case within just a few days.

Almost all of their operators are very short with you, so try not to get your feelings hurt! Also, I have heard others say that by the time they waited on their appointment from Brazil, the interview had passed. I know that they schedule appointments the second week of each month, so if you call then, you might learn of your interview date faster than by waiting for the mail.

What was your "missing piece" if you don't mind me asking. Ours was my wifes police records from her home country. After we turned those in it took about 8 weeks until we got the appoinment at the consul scheduled and five from there until we had to be there.

So your took 8 weeks after they received it to be complete and then another 5 weeks to get you appointment? Am I right?

No, my case was complete on 9/3. I assume my lawyer knew by calling NVC, either way they scheduled the appointment sometimes during the two weeks after case completion.

GodReuniteMyFamily ~ The documents were my marriage certificate that my attorney said that wasn't true beacuse how could she forget the evidence that proves we are married and my financial aff. but she had it on another document that was not working so why would they need a financial aff for me? But she sent it in they received it on the 15th of Sept. and I've been calling almost everyday to find out if they have completed it and sent it off to Rio already! So your took 8 weeks after they received it to be complete and then another 5 weeks to get you appointment? Am I right?

Yes that would be correct 7-8 weeks for us from submission of the evidence until we were informed of our appointment. However, our attorney told us that it would only take 4-6. I would reccommend that you contact the attorney after another 4-6 if you don't hear anything else because they will also get the letter and information. Calling everyday is rather fruitless. Just be ready and don't let a lot of time pass without at least contacting your attorney. Good luck to you.
