Wow!! I did it!! We filled the veggie garden with soil and planted our 2 tomato plants, 1 hot pepper plant and 1 basil plant. I planted some carrot, green beans, squash and some herbs. It may be too late for some of them but it's worth a shot. I covered it all with a bird netting. I forgot to put it back last night and my 2 blueberries are gone..snif snif. I think the bush will produce more next year.

So I bought way too much soil apparently so we're putting it in the front yard. I want to do it before it rains in the next few days. Right now I have no border at all there but what can I do? We're almost done moving it for the bed out front. I'm not sure anything will get planted in there this year but it will be ready for next year.

I also did that red, white and blue thing i saw on another forum. I had too many of them, so I planted some in pots. I've had them for about a week and they are doing great with daily watering.

I also did break down and bought a weeping pussy willow tree. It's in a pot and will remain in a pot until I decide if I want to plant it..and where.

Last but not least, here is the rain chain I got. It's definately not copper but i think it looks ok. I just need to find a way to anchor it now.

Wow, Marie you backyard looks really big!! I like your flowers that one that your daughter is pointing. So how long did it take to do all of the work??

yeah you know, i like my backyard, it's bigger than your average yard but it's not too too big.

Filling the veggie bed took HOURS. I did some yesterday and some today and then I just couldn't move the rest so I paid my bil to do it. I just couldn't.

The plants in the tier pots I actually did last week. The other pots I did today, it didn't take long.

Cleaning out my gutters and hanging the rain chain took about an hour. My gutters were NASTY! No wonder we had a bunch of mosquitoes!

All in all I spent 6 hours today..phiew!

wow Marie you got more motivation than me. I have been "building" my patio for weeks now. Ok so I haven't put it together yet, not until I till up some dirt and level it out. I'm gonna try to do it while hubby's in Mexico. I got more time that way.

Wanna come over and do my yard?

oh heck no. You know the only motivation I had was the coming rain..lol

I'll feel satisfied when I'm not completely run down

That looks great!

I think you will still have time to get a harvest out of that stuff!

I hope so, it's usually warm until mid october or later depending on the year. In the last few years, it hasn't really gotten cold at all until december. I was reading online that carrots, green beans are still ok to plant. I'm not sure about the rest but we shall see!

If the birds will stop eating my stuff....

It looks really nice. You should give some lessons to Mr. G. He has some big beautiful strawberry plants, but he just planted them everywhere in a big patch in the yard, with no rows or organization to them or anything. And then you should see his herbs and onions......LOL No ryme or reason to how they're arranged. Looks like a bunch of random weeds.

Don't you wish it was like on facebook where making the bird that's eating your plants disappear is just a click away?

LOL! I rather like Mr. G's planting arrangement. If I had convenient water access to my entire yard, I'd have a lot more fun. I like to mingle my herbs with my flowers and my pepper plants in with the flowers. It allows me to plant in the best possible location for the plant and add color and texture to the flower garden. Plus, it's like hunting easter eggs to find squash amid the daisies. But we are under water restrictions and I can't water my entire yard, only what I'm eating out of. I had to let the outer edges of my yard go.

well it kind of became a little disorganized cause i didn't have sticks to write down what things were and the herbs are a little messed up.

I have to say though, i am enjoying my red/white/purple sposed to be blue flower pots out there.

Arcoiris: we want pics!!

I gotta get a card reader! I blew up my old "winderz" computer and El Mac doesn't have a CF card reader.

Oh, you'll be interested to know that there is a family of hummingbirds in my garden. They are babies still and they fly really crazy! I'm afraid one will fly at me and put my eye out!

(Yes, I'm afraid of hummingbirds)

Pictures on the way, though!

Hummingbirds can be treacherous!!!! They are moving very fast..... Did someone say pictures?

How did the baby sleep last night?

He spent the night with his Nana. I'm sure he slept right there snug as a bug in her bed. LOL!

Man I got sprouts!!! I got raddish sprouts! I can't believe it!

Although, as you may be able to tell, the DOG stepped in there and now I'm going to have to seperate and replant when they get a bit bigger....suggestions on how to do that?
