I recieved my interview date in the mail today, the interview is at the Lagos consulate and interview is schedule for last week of August, less than 2 months!!! i am still in the US and my plan is to buy ticket and leave at the end of this month, unless i recieve another instruction that will speed up my departure.
I dont know how my staying till the last minute will affect their decision but i just couldnt bring myself to leave my family earlier especially since my son was delivered less than 18 months ago.
I know a lot of you are going through the process here and after reading numerous post i commend you for your fortitude. It kills me that i may not see my family for a year and if my waiver is denied, maybe more as travelling to Africa is not cheap. I will hope for the best and God willing it will work out fine.
For anyone who went through Lagos my question for now is the medical, how is the appointment done? will i be recieving a letter from the consulate instucting me of when to go to their authorised physician.
When can i also submit the waiver? is it possible to submit after my interview or will i recieve another letter telling me when to?

Thank you and good luck to us all.

Kay, be ready for a wait of a year or more while going thru the process. The medical is done at an approved centre in Victoria ISland and it is just 2 weeks to 1 month before results are recieved. Waivers take 8 months to 1 year to be adjudicated. Come with plenty of patience, money and prayers.. Goodluck. I ave gone thru the processes I listed.

Thanks Jfat, the timeline is what kills me, waiting one year for the approval is plain crazy and it is why i havent done it before now. Do you know where they are adjudicating the waivers now? is it Rome? When did you submit your waivers, imiediately after the interview or they asked you to?

I just printed the Medical examination paperwork and it says to allow 3 days minimum for the medical examination process. i will give them a call tomorrow.

I also just wanted to say best of luck!

And don't worry about leaving right before hand, it shouldn't be any detriment.

Have you already prepared the hardship packet?

Thanks everyone, it means a lot.

Laura, I am in the middle of preparing the hardship waiver, currently sifting through the sticky to get ideas and pointers on completing mine.
