Hello,

I only just found this website and wish I had known about it months and months ago! I'm American and my husband is English. We would have sailed through the visa process if it hadn't been for a conviction on my husband's police record that happened 18 years ago. Ooops. So along came the waiver process which we sent off in March. I just spoke with a woman on the phone from the Dept. of State. She said that the application was sent to the DHS on May 14th. Any idea (on average of course) how long it takes to get a decision once DHS has it???

Thank you again for your time. I'm grateful. Thank you.

Mariana

Hi there

DHS say 12-15 weeks, I've seen them go through faster but in our case it took almost 6 months - still it was approved. They seem to have fast times and slow times I think a lot of it is to do with security checks after they decide to approve based on the conviction etc
Good luck

Hi........

Really? 12-15 weeks from when DHS receives it? Oh wow!!! :shy: We were told that amount of time once we applied (ie. sent it off), which was in mid-March. Well I guess we'd better get ready for the long haul.

Thanks........

Mariana

London is one of only two consulates that has a site where you can check your waiver's progress.

There should be a link in a sticky under the I-601 London forum.

Here it is: http://london.usembassy.gov/dhs/form...status-web.pdf

Yep USBrit is right...it usually averages about 12-15 weeks..but can take longer in some instances. The link Pinkpig provided is great for checking on your case status.

We had our interview at the end of Feb and just received written notice that the waiver was approved - which was a little over 15 weeks. We are still waiting to hear when we physically will get the visa. Patience is all I can tell you.
