Could we start a thread on how many people have filed both their I-130 and I-129f and their timelines?
I think this information would greatly assist people (like me) who are anticipating doing it now.
Thanks.

Well, over time I have filed four I-129Fs (yes, all for the same ultimate wife) and four I-130s (non-redundant there, where I also have three stepchildren). My timeline would confuse you, heck, it even confuses me. But I'm an expert at filing those suckers now.
In regards to thread placement, wouldn't the better place of filing the combo go in the K Visa section?..

I filed I 130 first and as soon as I got the receipt notice, I then filed the I 129 for K3.
I 130 filed in August 06
k3 filed in August 06...approved in Nov 06, interviewed in Feb 07
I 130 approved in June 07...there was a delay cause USCIS needed an actual Birth certificate instead of wallet one.
However, I need waivers before they can issue a visa, still working on the waivers right now.

We filed both..
I-129 and I-130 in March 2004, both approved in December 2004. We went to interview for I-129, consulate switched us to the I-130 (IR-1) at interview in January 2005.We bypassed all the NVC steps thansk to the consulate having all paperwork sent to them instead.
I apply I 130 in February, in March I apply I 129 F. They approved both in May at the same time. Now I will waiting to have my interview to the Consulate. I also will need an I 601 waiver. Good luck!

We filed the 130 in 2005, recieved the recipt and then also filed the 129f. It took about 7 months for us to get an interview for the k3 visa, and concurrently we got a letter stating that all our 130 info was being send to CDJ... We went to the interview, got the k3 visa and came home. I recently filed for AOD, but at the same time got an interview for the 130 in CDJ...
SO-> the 129f took 7 months from start to finish
the 130 took 1 year 7 months from start to appt date
if follow through with AOS it could take another 9 mths
GOOD LUCK>.

We filed our I130 in March 2005..than in March of 2006 filed the I129f (our I130 was already approved which I think I read you canīt do that now) Our I129 was approved in June (which was a BIG delay due to IMBRA) Our interview was in January 2007.

Read my post under Vermont I-130 times. We went ahead and bit the dust and filed our I-129 using the return receipt instead of waiting any longer. I wrote in the cover letter that I was using that as my "evidence" since the USCIS Officer I spoke with said they I could try it because they were not provided guidelines on what was not acceptable. It just says "evidence." And he said as long as they both were sent to the same address, it didn't seem to make a difference to him. Well, I will see.

Oh that is good. I hope it works. I mean how much proof do they really need when they have the application in their office. Good Luck.

I can understand that, but my husband is going to lose his job if the SS# check starts and we can't wait to long with him not having a job. I mean I make enough money for the fees and stuff, but we need his income too.

Ok I know it speeds it up to file both.. but exactly WHY does it speed it up and why do they let you use it if you are already married?
If you are getting 2 different requests for 2 different interviews how do you handle that?
How long does AOS take when back in the U.S.?
And I know they can't work yet but in the meantime can he drive and travel? Or he wouldn't be able to do those things either?
We filed both. Check my time line below for dates.
