Hey guys! Well I got my EAD in the mail last thursday (June 12). I was very excited so the first place I went to soon after was the social security office. They told me it would take a couple of weeks to get the SS card in the mail, but that I could come back Monday or Tuesday to request the number that had been assigned to me. Well, I did go this last Monday (6/16) and they gave me a letter which had my new number. However, the employer that's been waiting to hire me ran my new information through a background check yesterday and received an "invalid social security number" response. In addition, I've been trying to sign myself into the selective service system, and they give me a similar error. It's strange because I called the social security office yesterday, and they said my information WAS correct and is in the system, so there shouldn't be a problem.

Has anyone had a similar problem or does anyone know how long it takes for these databases to update?

Uhmm I think it takes a while to update in the systems. After my hubby got his new ssn he tried applying for credit and was denied and the reason "could not be identified". However, having a letter from a government agency, I don't know what's the issue with that employer.

Really? Do you remember how long it took? Well the issue with the employer is they just need to run a background check using my social security number to make sure I'm not a convicted felon or drug history, stuff like that.
