Do the processing people (don't know the correct term for them) judge on past relationships, for example if I am recently divorced and he is recently divorced how long of a wait before we should start our process, I really want to go the fiance route but if it is better for approval to do the marriage in a foreign country I will, we will have to file a I-601 in the end,

I am just at the beginning stages and I know we are heading for marriage, do you think six months then I can start the process? I am so new at this I am reading everything for about three months now.

All I can speak to is our situation. My husband was married to a USC before we met. She never filed for him or anything, and she bailed on the marriage after only a couple months, but it took years for him to track her down and finalize the divorce. His divorce was not final on paper until about 6 months before we got married, and we filed the 1-130 just after getting married. We had to supply the divorce decree, but other than that it has not been an issue at all. For us, we had 3 kids by the time of the visa interview so I don't think they really even questioned the validity of the relationship.

wow! 2 months...I guess I never looked that closely at your timeline. Our I-130 took over a year back in 2004 and then it took almost 2 years to get the CDJ appt! You never know....

I met hubby around the same time as my separation with ex. I filed for divorce in November it was final in February then we got married in June. My I-130 was also approved fast, like 3 months or so.

Knew my husband for the longest, we were best friends. Started dating my husband in 1998 and my divorce from my first husband wasn't finalized until May 2000. No one ever questioned us about it. Like Chapital said all we needed was the divorce decree.
