Hi Guys!

So I know I am far from going to CDJ for any appointment, but I was wondering....

Once you knew about your appointment how did you make the travel plans. With the new pilot program it must making it harder. Did you book to stay in CDJ for a week or two or three? Did you book return flights home to the US or to your spouses home in Mexico?

I work in travel and want to start planning because I have to work early to get open ended tickets on a travel agent rate, but I just don't know how it is done. Do I plan on having my husband fly to his parents house and then book him a flight home a little later?

Just want to know about your experience and where did you stay?

This week, I'm gonna buy plane tickets online for my husband and I. We're flying from Portland to Mexico City, to spend a week with his family in Pachuca. Then, we're flying from Mexico City to Ciudad Juarez for the appt. We're going to stay 5-6 nights at a hotel in CDJ (Hotel Consulado, possibly)...If approved, we'll return to Portland. As soon as we know the outcome, we'll buy the tickets, call the driver everyone recommends, and cross the border:) Home sweet home, hopefully...

Angela - a note on the hotel aspect. It seems like there are a number of hotels around the Consulate and they are rarely if ever completely booked. My husband stayed at the Lincoln the first time around, and he had to stay a day longer, and he just extended it. We've found out about some less expensive options for this trip, like the Meson de Maruca, and I'm not even sure it's necessary to make reservations. In any case, I wouldn't worry about that aspect of it. There shouldn't be a problem extending your stay if necessary. In any case, having to stay there for more than a week would be unusual.
