My SIL has his interview date for July 11 in Guatemala. Will he be allowed to turn in his I-601 waiver and the package at that time when he is denied or will he have to make another appointment another date to hand in his waiver package?

Yes, you can turn in the same day of the appointment, we turned ours in the next day because we where missing one of the police report (penales)

Does everyone have to get the police certificates to hand in with the waiver package or just those people who have been living in Guatemala "six months or more."

I'm not sure if you need them in hand. They might already be in his file. However, they can't be more than 6 months old. If your SIL obtained his more than 6 months ago he should probably get new ones in Guatemala City just to be safe. And make sure that he has both the "antecedentes" and "policiacos."

Is your daughter going to his interview?

No, my daughter will not be going since it is too early to travel with the baby. Just so you know why I am asking about the police certificates: he has never lived in Guatemala more than 6 months since attaining the age of 16. So I am wondering if this is something he will need for his interview. On the appointment letter he received, it states that no police certificates are needed. He never had to submit them to the NVC.

I would try to get them anyway, it does not hurt to try and be ready. :)
