Being a foster mom

so, I was looking on craigs list and some women said it was urgent that her cats need to be placed in a home....some feeling told me to contact her so I did.

Story: (I spoke to her friend) This girl married this ahole when she was 18, he finally beat her so bad, he put her in the hospital, so she has stitches on her face broken ribs etc. Yeah...so she told me she is trying to get this girl out of the house and its the first time that she asked for help, so she believes she is not going back. Cause the first time she left, he told her that if she didn't come back then he'll kill her dog....well he snapped 1 of the dogs neck...SO I told her I would take in her cats till august 1. I felt so bad for her but also happy that she can get out of that place.

So she has 3 cats but she only gave me 2 (I'm happy about that) which puts me at 4!! Well, I am anal retentive about it smelling clean and they are sooo cute and sweet and they get along with mine, but mine are kinda scared....they'll open up later.

If you had space and loved animals would you do the same thing? Maybe I'm a sucker or too nice, but I think no one or no animal should be in that situation.


BTW..hubby is NOT too happy...lol but he'll get over it.

i love cats so.. i'de do it if i could!

i did get another cat and my cat was just.. insanely pissed off.. so i had to give it to my sister.... so its good your cats get along w them

lol..he told me "you think I like 2?!, 2 is alot and now 4!" And I was like 2 are only for a month, and the other 2 were here before you....lol....plus he leaves the house at 8am and doesn't come home till 10:15 due to work!!!! and he has 1 or 2 days off which he either sleeps or goes to the gym all day...so he can't even be complaining.

We'd probably take in one or two more, as long as they were trained to go potty outside and to stay around the house when they were out. However, I'm not sure how our cat would handle it. Once when we were going for a walk, Mr. G found a cat with one eye. He brought it home and our cat was NOT happy. He stood there and arched his back and made hissing and growling noises the whole time.

Mr. G said he didn't want a cat but now that he have the one, he is very attached. He doesn't think I know, but it's obvious. When we were going to Mexico for vacation, I dropped the cat off with my sister a couple of days before we left so that she could babysit him and the first day, Mr. G was depressed and I was worried. I was like, "Aren't you happy we're going on vacation. What's wrong?" And he said, "Mi amor, I miss Quirino a little tiny big." LOL

Mine are moody at first but I just need to give them a couple days and then they'll open up and be friends....lol....that's cute that your husband worried about the cat....my hubby does the same crap...:)

I think thats great that you are fostering them!!! :) My husband would probably be okay for a month, if he was certain thats all it would be!! Any longer and he wouldnt be too happy, but we have 6 furry friends so ya know :)

they are nice looking cats .and they look well taken care off. good luck that this Lady cared so much of her animals like to put them up for foster care.

Ok, I just sent an email to the girl that I'm watching the cats to let her know the progress. The skinny one is gaining weight which is good and the other little one (white tummy) looks prego and she won't stop eating....her response...."I hope milley isn't prego" I thought the cat was spaded!.....I guess I'll check her nips when I go home...they said [internet] when prego they get rosey and swollen...omg...I really hope she's not prego....

Wow...Kudos for what you are doing!!! I wish I could adopt every stray in the streets, but unfortunately I live in a 1 bedroom apartment and my hubby would kill me. As it is...my dog sheds so much hair we're perplexed that she hasn't gone bald. Anyhow...this is awesome of you!!

Maybe is a Mexican thing but I too don't care for cats. Not that I would not help with one if needed to but to actually get one as my pet well let's just say it won't happen. :shy:

Either way I don't agree with animal abuse so I'll take a cat any day to save him/her from being abused :hug:

ok...I can't tell if she is prego....seriously...its got to be easier then this...I guess if and when she pops them out we'll find out....lol
