I applied for my husband on January 07. Correct me if i am wrong , I-130 applied by a LPR doest get processed until he/she become citizen. Once you become one and applying for your spouse, the visa number is immediately available and I-130 gets approaved within three or four months.

I applied for my husband and waiting for my citizenship interview. I applied long before so i dont have to waste time once i become US citizen.

Good luck to all.

It will get processed when a visa number becomes available. You don't need to be a citizen - if that were the case, filed petitions would be rejected. But once you become a citizen, you can upgrade the petition and will no longer have to wait for a visa number to become available.

The current visa bulletin shows I-130s filed for spouses of LPRs (preference 2A) from Mexico are being processed from April 1992.

If you a LPR, the timeframe for the I-130 is approximately 4-5 years because USCIS is not approving cases until a visa number becomes available (hence the 4-5 years).

However, if you a USC, then it takes 6 to 12 months.
